I've been thinking about this too OP.
We're all fighting to try and stop the rise of the left wing but it's inevitable. At the beginning of the 19th century humanity learned the dangers of a society going full right wing. I think we're about to see what will happen when societies go full left wing.
I think the results will be similar to Hitler's. But the lesson we must learn from this is that we are part of our species learning process. After this is all over we will have learned not to go too far left wing. From then on we can only progress upwards as a species with both our right and left values being carefully monitored in harmony.

The only thing I see moving along a continuously positive trajectory (where positive means more advanced, not necessarily beneficial) is technology.
