We need to dispel this rumor that Putin doesn't know what he's doing. He knows exactly what he's doing. He has accomplished reviving, and stabilizing, the legitimate Syrian Government. He has rearmed and reignited the flame of the Syrian Arab Army and the terrorists are on the run.

I agree with you. But we still have some naval and air forces in Syria which will work on ISIS. Apparently Putin decided we don't need as many forces since we don't have to deal with "moderates" for now. It wouldn't take too long to draw more soldiers and planes back to Syria if needed.

I saw MSM say that Putin got told and is now leaving with his tail between his legs and that Assad is done, is this true?

Alright, he's a quick list since I know you won't even so much as peek at the pastebin (Sorry Minneso-tan)

>90% of Latakia liberated (going to 100%)
>Large perimeter around Kweires secured
>Nubl and Zahraa liberated and reconnected to the rest of the Government territories - much rejoicing. You wish you were here to see this.
>SAA marching towards Raqqa
>SAA marching towards Palmyra
>BASED ISSAM ZAHREDDINE STILL UNDEFEATED FOR YEARS WITH NO REINFORCEMENTS IN DEIR EZZOR
>Kurds Marching south to Deir Ezzor
Kurds marching east parallel the northern border with Turkey (as expected, the roaches are unhappy)
>Russia pumped up the weapons deliveries. Videos exist of T-90s, Smerch, Sunheat.
>MEME BOXES INSTALLED ON SYRIAN ARMOR, BTFOING TOWS
>MODERATE TERRORISTS losing ground FAST. Groups are dissolving, merging, splitting, creating at record pace. General BTFO
>Various assassins in Syria roaming around killing ISIS commanders. Possibly that fucking Kadyrov may be involved.
>CEASE FIRE IN FORCE
>BUT NOT FOR TERRORISTS AND ISIS
>"Real" Moderate groups surrendering fast. Anyone who doesn't gets literally BTFO
>Putin announces general objectives accomplished - can begin troop withdrawal
>NOT THE AIRFORCE, THO

tl;dr
SAA STILL WINNING
ASSAD STILL UNDEFEATED
RUAF STILL IN SYRIA
TERRORISTS STILL BTFO ALL AROUND

No, i suck in national and international language, but in maths, i'm your fucking god.

>>67590057

Of course :^)

To be serious, this just put Russia in the game again, now USA can't just invade all what they want without a massive and actually effective russia shilling, and for worse, pretty much, is actually correct.

Yes, RT suck and Sputnik made me sick, but if USA was actually doing the things fine in Syria, without Nusra thing, that would mean a total defeat of Russia after all, but now, the positions actually changed right now, now USA is getting BTFO by their own mistakes and Russia winning a lot of allies in they way.

And for worse, UE/NATO/Arab League/USA is pretty much a joke now thanks to Putin-sama, by showing the worst of these parties.
>>
>>67596496
No one still has any pragmatic-realist answers to the question what's up with the timing? what changed?

To be fair, Ru had been making noises in November-December that their involvement will only last until the first fiscal quarter of 2016. Lo and behold.

With no concrete numbers yet on what stays and what goes home, I still think the announcement is a de-escalation smokescreen, while sustainment operations for the Syrian mission will only increase.

The timing is just fine. They already said from the beginning that they were planning on staying only for a few months. Assad is, in any case, winning so hard right now that Russia only needs to do the occasional air support. It's the same as when they went in. because Russia doesn't televise all of their moves WAY in advance just like the US always does, everyone just shits their pants in surprise every single time.

The media is starting to split, in any case. The MSM has gradually been shrinking and the beginnings of what may be called an "Alternative" media is starting to coalesce. One one hand, Putin will always be demonized by the MSM. On the other, since the MSM media is bashing Putin, the Alternative media will think Putin is doing something right and fight for him. This has a direct affect on public opinion.

Not so confident about this. We can qualify it as Assad is winning hard in western Syria from Daraa to Kobani. But even this statement is footnoted with heavy qualifiers. What about Raqqa and DeZ?

Partition and inevitable in the same sentence are once again reappearing, something Ru put an end to last October. Every additional day that IS exists is a victory for Nato and the Gulf monarchies.

The SAA is advancing both from Hama Northeast to Raqqa and West from Damascus, with a massive confrontation against ISIS in Palmyra. Once Palmyra breaks (Tiger force is there. It's just a matter of time), then the Nightcall to Deir Ezzor wil begin in earnest. The same Deir Ezzor, I should say, which is already being pressured form the north by the Kurds. On teh Raqqa side, the road is tough to Taqaba, through a whole lot of villages, but if ISIS is bisected there, then, basically, a collapse is inevitable, instead of a slow, grinding petering out.

The only question is, will the SAA make the advances before the Kurds?

The Kurds are doing well for themselves North of the country, where they enjoy local support, but downtown Raqqa and Deir Ezzor is Arab country, so their performance there has yet to be seen.

it was the 103rd commandos and the desert hawks who liberated kinsibba

This was the situation in February, apart from advances towards Taqaba, and the gains were still modest. With no Russian air, how are the timetables of any future advances accelerated? But i think this question is moot for now with the ceasefire. It just feels absurd that an abstinence of sorties aimed at making the opposition feel better about negotiating in good faith also prolongs IS lifespan.

russians are still conducing air raids, just not as many.

Obviously the timetables have been decelerated if anything, but still, the advance is ongoing. I have a feeling this is just a period of strategic repositioning for the SAA's forces since they don't need to heavily guard the edges of the ceasefire area anymore, as well as rotate forces off from Latakia (mostly taken now anyway) and pump them into the Palmyra and Taqaba fronts.

Of course, there's still the matter of the Nusra infested Idlib, but it seems SAA command has deemed it's time the eastern regions were liberated from ISIS scum first. I don't necessarily disagree.
That said, We all know how much of a fortress Palmyra is for ISIS - it would have fallen to the SAA now if it wasn't, and it should be taken with much, MUCH superior firepower.

Yeah, but the complains are the same.

And other such strategy-illiterate, tactics-illiterate nonsense

Why the hell /pol/ needs 69 Trump threads? They have /tg/ too!

More than half of those are BERNIE BTFO threads and their equivalent NO BERNIE IS NOT BTFO threads (which immediately get turned into BTFO threads anyway)

Farewell gift? One would think this sort of story would be more prominent against the backdrop of an announced withdrawal. Then again rollouts happen in increments instead of an on/off switch. Will there still be sorties come April? Where are the anons tracking the number of daily flights?

>>67612665
I can't let go of this withdrawal shit. Do you think we give it too much credence? The punditsphere is already happily wallowing in Did Putin withdraw from a Position of Strength/Position of Weakness narrative circlejerking. I can't help but agree
>this is just a period of strategic repositioning
For everyone. I can't wait for Turkey and KSA to overplay their hand in reaction to this.

Well, there's that tinfoil theory that Putin is baiting Turkey/KSA into invading so he could personally, lawfully and rightfully slap their shit in
>>
>>67619173
Erdogan or his advisers is a bit too smart for that. Remember his pivot to Iraqi KRG after losing his turkmen and trucks? Everyone wanted him to come rolling in from Jarabulus or Kobani.

Still, im kinda partial to that thinking. From Kremlin pov, they lose nothing going thru the motions of withdrawing when a ceasefire they brokered is in effect. There isn't even a set date yet when the withdrawal is declared complete. It resembles a ruse from their maskirovka playbook.
