Ultimately no, but we do have to lay some blame on the government's shitty food policies and poor medical education. A lot of obese people give up because they think they need to exercise to lose weight, and since they can't exercise (for any reason, but largely because they try and fail since it literaly won't help).
We need to educated fat and obese people that DIET is the cause of 99% of their extra weight, and that excercise is for maintaining their *fitness*, not their weight. They need to get thin first, then AND exercise.
Until the government and media stop spewing the bullshit that you need to exercise to lose weight, fat acceptance will only continue to gain steam. All these teenagers growing up around obese classmates are going to grow up with fat fetishes, and it could cement fat acceptance as part of US culture within a generation, perhaps permanently.

I've never understood how they are lazy. There seems to be a ton of extra work involved in being obese. Showering, going to the bathroom, they can't even sleep without machines to help them breathe.
I am a lazy person. Far too lazy to do all that extra work dragging hundreds of additional pounds around. I think most truly lazy people are like me and won't ever let themselves get fat because being fat looks like a ton of extra work.

I was once very fat. Nearly 400 lbs. I had gastric sleeve surgery and lost all my excess weight in 8 months. Fat people disgust me even more now. I hated them even when I was fat. Now, I can't stand to see them. It's a complete destruction of the body and makes you feel fucking awful.
When I was massively overweight, everything fucking hurt. I was short of breath after just a little exercise. Sex was disgustingly sweaty and slappy. Now, everything is great.
