Ouagadougou blasts: Burkina Faso capital hit by gunfire
Gunmen have attacked a hotel used by westerners in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, in west Africa.
Eyewitnesses said two car bombs went off outside the Splendid hotel at around 19:30 local time (same as GMT).
Masked men then stormed the Splendid Hotel, which is used by UN staff and westerners.

Ouaga = Ouagadougou = the capital of Burkina Faso. It has about 2 million people. It's not a big tourism destination for westerners like Mali used to be, but it does have a lot of aid agencies and staffers.
I was there for a while in the late-00's and know exactly where these buildings are. The Splendid is close to some of the consulates and embassies, too.
