As far as I'm aware, religion is not the only reason or even the main reason that Bin-Laden attacked America. He saw American influence as a threat to Saudi Arabia. He helped America fight Russia in Afghanistan and swore a blood oath to America on the proviso that the US stay out of SA. When US forces were not removed from Saudi Arabia as planned, he took that as a betrayal and spent the rest of his life trying to destroy America.
Religious violence is as much about political grievances as it is about religious arguments. If you truly want to end the violence then you should not focus exclusively on the religion, you should address those other issues and stop making those grievances worse.
