Freedom is fine. We have a certain amount of freedoms guaranteed by the constitution but ultimately our government will subvert as much as possible until the supreme court says enough.
I think what makes America so great is that this is where innovation happens or at least is supposed to happen. If there are medical breakthroughs it will likely happen with some or total American involvement.
If every country just stayed in their little socialist shell like say Sweden or what have you we would continue being a mediocre world.

I can see I live in a country with Freedom from the fear of living under the threat of an invading nation.
Freedom of freely travelable terrain from coast to coast.
Freedom of choosing to defend myself or not with guns I can use as protection.
Freedom of saying what I want about the country I live in and the people that run it.

The thing those idiots who made that poorly written farcical show don't understand, is that freedom isn't just a random "verb" to excuse thought. It's a concept that spans many categories in terms of personal and public freedoms available to the average person, which makes us all, in a sense, equal to one another.

We have the greatest military in the world, we're an engine of economic growth across the globe, we're the world's richest market.
But none of that matters much. Any shithole can be rich and strong and still be a cesspit. The thing that sets America apart from most other places in the world (apart from freedom which another anon covered so well) is that people from other countries have both the opportunity and desire to become American and in the large part we embrace that. We are not a closed or xenophobic people. We welcome the immigrant who wants to be a part of the American experiment provided he follows our laws. We give him the opportunity to thrive, be free, and participate in our society like no other place in the world.
