By the end they were fucked. The reinforcements from the east was their YOLO moment, and when that push failed, it was done. They were running out of all sorts of supplies, even bullets, and had the weight and production of the rest of the world against them.
Don't forget that from the beginning they had a smaller army and smaller number of reserves while the Entente had the entire rest of the world to pull from.
