I am a 38 year-old lifelong Republican and I am voting for Bernie Sanders. My grandpa was in love Regan and the Republican Party and passed that love down to me. Along with my grandpa’s influence plus the national influence from “Church leaders” (I’m a Christian) it seems like it was set in stone for me to be a lifelong Republican. However, I can’t see the reason to keep supporting a party that promotes hate and runs on a platform of keeping people from having equal rights of marriage. I don’t think Jesus looking down would say, “Shit, these people are doing my work and hating the gays like I instructed!” Plus we are living in a time where the wealth divide in this nation is at an all-time high and I feel like the Republican Party wants to keep it that way. I want my kids to grow up loving those who are ‘different’, help those in need and be a catalyst for positive change. Unfortunately, at this time, that isn’t what the Republican Party stands for. This election I will be casting my ballot for Bernie Sanders! I hope to look back 20 years from now to see that he was the change our nation needed.
