Decreased funding of refugee shelters in the surrounding countries of Syria as well as the fact that the west did hardly anything in Syria besides dropping some predator strikes on goats so everything leads to this.
It is also not just a refugee situation anymore. Immigrants who came from Africa to Italy years ago are now travelling to Germany because they think they will get free money. Same with balt countries.
The borders HAVE to be closed sooner or later because even if we wanted to, it is simply impossible to get an migrant influx of several % of the local population. And the sooner the borders are closed, the more money Germany can spend on refugee camps in Libanon, Turkey etc. Feeding and giving shelter here costs at least 10 times as much as there.
Mistakes have been made and the sooner we admit that, and the sooner we can close the borders, we can improve the conditions for everyone involved.

Merkel made massive mistakes and is unwilling to concede it and keeps making everything worse for everyone by letting the borders stay wide open. She actively fucks up the countries who are on the Balkan route and keeps fucking Greece in the ass with austerity and now inviting to go through there and occupying entire islands.
We are left with cleaning shit of failed policies but it is possible to stop it but not with her constant appeasement politics and taking the middleway.
