That's not really comparable though.
Every time a Western military has been defeated (or rather exhausted) it was fighting insurgents on their home turf.
A few tens of thousands of soldiers with severely limited resources trying to pacify the entire population of a country who know the terrain and aren't afraid to fight.
In this scenario, a small minority of the population would be fighting the entire military and majority population of the country, they would be poorly armed, they wouldn't have any support from the native population that facilitates resistance movements.
At the absolute best they could temporarily occupy urban areas with large Muslim populations, but how long would that last?
Europe is sick of war, we almost destroyed ourselves the last time, we're sick of sending kids to die in trenches, and we're sick of cities being firebombed.
