I always found that labeling yourself was something that only a naive person would do. Each situation should be measured individually and you should always have conflicted thoughts about any ideology or idea presented to you. I do not label myself as being from any specific group, ideology or sub-culture because I think that you can pick good and bad things from every part and use them to apply your own judgment. Although, I can understand how useful it can be to present your ideas in a extreme/absolute way. You won't draw anyone to your side if you don't show absolute conviction on what you're saying. And that take us back to what I said in the beginning of the post, I think that labeling yourself is dumb, but the truth is that people love to label themselves. People like to feel that they're part of something, that they're part of a group. People like to define themselves through ideologies and tastes because they feel like wouldn't be special or unique as a person otherwise. Essentially, people like to feel that they are something and that they are part of something, and it's much easier to do that by adhering ideologies, tastes and communities as being part of who you are. And that's why people are generally hostile towards anyone who has ideals, tastes or lifestyles that are very different from theirs. By living in a different way, you aren't just challenging people's ideas, you're challenging people themselves. Due to ego, people can't rarely accept that their lifestyle are flawed and so, they try to justify themselves saying that the flawed ones are the others, not them.
