STEM students don't participate in these events, and don't care about them since they won't be affected by it before they graduate. That's why they won't even try to combat against it, since they are busy with their own study, and want to "stay out of drama" and cover their own asses so they can graduate and get out. These professors make time for the students to protest and promote these events in class (maybe even giving extra credit). However, the future generation will suffer. If these "protest" can force faculty members to resign and remove, that means the way the college run can be easily changed. Policies on campus can be changed. If the faculty members can be easily remove, replaced, then the students can also be easily be removed, replaced. Also, it instill fear into everyone that whatever they say or do can result in them getting removed from the university. The fact that these protests stemmed from extremely "trivial" events, some might not even exist and have little proof, is quite alarming. That will deliver the message that very trivial things you do can have huge consequence if they are caught in the wild and unpredictable current of these "protest".
