I only funded myself when I first came here and laid the groundwork for the project meaning paying to live here (Split), not having an income, paying for lawyers, land analysis, etc.
But the overwhelming amount comes from the fund that I found to back me. There's several dozen of us here in HR who brought funds here for various businesses, tourism being the most lucrative.
If I pull this off, it's great and I can live here for the rest of my life.
If I fail, then I know I tried to do something good for HR because my project won't cost the country one penny as the purchasers will come from the EU.
If you can get a decent income, and by decent I mean less than average in places like Toronto, LA, Chicago, NYC, there is nowhere better to live than in HR.....the trick is finding that income and the only way to do that is with foreign backing by either doing what I've done or to work for some multinational.

I actually wanted to open a small business and got shocked because if I fail and have no funds on my account to pay fees they could easily take away my apt. I'm not sure if that is the risk I'm willing to take.

3. If I fail, I have to find a job and it would be very difficult to find one here in HR unless I find another group to back me in another project that I would have to start from scratch.

I almost had to give up the project because the first fund I found backed out due to their own liquidity issues. But I kept at it, didn't spend too much, and found another fund.
