In the early 90s, the militia movement was gaining tons of ground and was starting to go more mainstream.
Media and government were working overtime to keep a lid on it (as in the semitically correct "Falling Down" you reference). L.A. burned.
When the Murrah building was bombed, the air completely went out of the movement. This is why lots of people think it was a false flag.
ps-I was watching live when the government burned out the branch davidians in Waco. Don't ever let anyone tell you they didn't. To date, that was the spookiest thing I've ever seen, gov vehicles setting fire to a large building complex while on the other side of the screen Reno was saying what we were seeing wasn't happening.
