I have some interesting news about Ebola that I discovered over the weekend. My mother is the regional director for an entire state. I can't tell you what state because you'll obviously be able to doxx me. Remember the N1H1 flu panic a few years ago? Well my mom with the help of the CDC and the governor drafted the plan and paper work that the state government was to use in case of an outbreak in a city(heavily black). Like Connecticut declaring a state of emergency every state has these contingency plans in place. But last week my mom had to go to a meeting/conference with the governor, CDC, TSA, State police, and Homeland Security.
The goal of the meeting was to draft and revise the outbreak contingency plans in the event that my state was to declare a state of emergency like Connecticut. But what came out as a result of this meeting has my mom so scared that she asked me to travel 3 hours to her farm. I'll kind of list what she told me below.
She told me that the CDC believe that there is an Airborne strain of an Ebola or Ebola like hemorrhagic fever. The majority of cases we see is the non-airborne Ebola virus, but there is evidence that there is a smaller strain that is Airborne.
In the event of an outbreak in my state the Governor will declare a state of emergency and activate the National Guard.
Here's the fucked up part.
The CDC said that if the virus is not contained in Texas or more infected people make it to other parts of the country and it gets out of control the estimated death toll in the USA alone is around 5-10 million people over 3 years. The majority will be in poor black cities. The estimated cost will be at least 1 trillion dollars.

I don't get it. My mother was the one that put together the first disease plan in my state in the event that the N1H1 virus (swine flu) became a pandemic. That is why they called her into he meeting in the first place. Because she was the only former local government office that had experience with drafting the protocols and getting them approved.
Also with her work she became so paranoid with the powers and actions that the state government and national government she moved out of the city to a small sustainable farm and has 2 years worth of food stored up in a large walk in pantry.

I am employed by a regional carrier, flying the CL6002D24 (CRJ900). By the time we get a passenger, we, as a flight crew, have no way of knowing from what country the passenger originated.
As far as I know, no US carrier has stopped providing service to countries That have had outbreaks, though service to such countries is already limited by demand. I have not yet received a good explanation for the fact that we have not followed the lead of Air France and BA.

That was the CDC's estimate and not publicly released. That is the death toll, with this strain of Ebola the death rate is far lower so the actual infected would be around 20-30 million people.
