Leica cameras make good photos.
Follow rules of composition: Rule of Thirds, Rule of Odds, etc
Use Foreground, Subject, Background to help tell a story (probably the hardest to do).
Use contrasting colors, contrasting black and white, interesting geometry, etc, to help make the composition "pop out"

dont listen to these noobs. rule of thirds is meant as a beginner guide. after that you can do what you want. a good image is both creative, composed well. light,focus and interest are a given.

Years of practice and constant dedication to one's craft without ever losing the love.
It's really the love that's key. If you don't like taking photos, you won't take a good photo. Its like anything else. If you don't live and breathe it, nothing truly great will come of it.

No general rule for a good photo. For every photo where something counts as a positive element, it will be a negative element in another photo, despite the two being lauded equally as masterpieces.
