Easy on the reds. I like the image but the red channel is blown and it really makes the image distractnig. I know it s just a phone shot but still.

I agree.
Also, Some might argue that the processing of an image is an art form in itself. Any teenage girl with an iPhone can take a photo these days but very few people can put a photo through processing and achieve exactly what they want.

reduce file size. there's a weird algorithm on 4chan that determines that you have an embedded file if your file size is something like 2/3 of the resolution (if that makes sense). usually happens when you have hyper-detailed images that make for a big jpeg.

I'll be honest... I was sitting in a carpark waiting for my girl and was able to hold the iPhone quite steady with the watch balanced on my knee. I took about a dozen or more pics but only this one came out good enough for my tastes. Sometimes it takes a better picture than my DSLR and mirrorless cameras but not so much in low light. In low light it generates a fair bit of noise.
The reason I bought it was because I was sick of carrying a compact camera (Canon s95) plus an iPod for my music and finally my old Motorolla V3 phone... I wanted to combine the three into the iPhone and to a large extent it works well.
The one thing it does that staggers me is it takes a great Panorama (see pic). You can also get cheap software apps that give you almost complete control over the iPhone's camera. ProCam 3 is about $5 but gives you a hell of a lot of features including ISO control, Shutter Control and the ability to save TIFs and long exposure settings.
This panorama was taken with my first day using the iPhone 6s. Never used a phone camera before. It blew out slightly where the sun was coming up. I took an identical panorama with my DSLR and this one was still better. The color was more appealing but the detail looked similar.

concentrate on learning how to frame shots. look up rule of thirds and turn on grid view on your phone if you can.
hard to say, but i probably would have used the sign as my key element in the shot. put less concentration on the rocks and more on the sky to isolate it.
