All you need to do is remove the guts, shove a stick through it in a secure way, roast it, peel the scaly skin off, separate the meat from the bones, season, and eat it.

Egg carton. Which can be put into a good stiff cardboard sleeve or packed with a stock pot if you have one for washing and cooking. The carton keeps them from breaking when jarred and the other prevents crush damage, should something happen.

If I'm car camping I just bring stew in mason jars because then I can have a nice jar of cold stew whenever I'm at camp and need some food.

If I'm really going /out/ then the only reason I'll bring food at all is because its hard to get good sleep on an empty stomach. Macadamia nuts are super calorie dense and are tasty af. They are mostly comprised of healthful oils, which is great because fat contains 9 calories per gram whereas protein and carbs are only 4. Sometimes I go backpacking with people who like to bring a jet boil and plates and cups and utensils and bulky packs of expensive shitty dried carb laden backpacking food which just baffles me because they lug around pounds and pounds of extra equipment just to make some really shitty food I wouldn't even want to eat. The weight of their food alone is over twice as much as mine, takes up 10 times more space, and then they need all the cooking equipment on top of it.

Once upon a time I was broke as fucker, verging on homeless every other month. So I would go to the local supermarket which had a self checkout. I would go to the bakery and grab a pastry bag, throw a bunch of spam singles, mixed nuts, yogurt raisens etc in the bag then hit the self checkout. I would ring myself up for the price in an onion or some other cheap ass produce to compensate fornthe weight. That and finding a dollar tree go me through a rough 6 months

http://www.medicaldaily.com/do-eggs-need-be-refrigerated-or-can-you-store-them-room-temperature-256872

>In the U.S., hens are not required to be vaccinated against Salmonella, with only one-third of farmers choosing to immunize their flocks.

>British laws require that all egg hens be vaccinated for Salmonella.

>One egg batch was kept at room temperature, generally between 68°F and 77°F, and the other was kept at typical fridge temperature at approximately 43°F. These samples were continuously tested for bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria.

>The results of the study showed that both batches of eggs were equally bacteria-free from the initial start of the study all the way to the end of the study — a span of two weeks. “There is no advantage in keeping the eggs refrigerated as opposed to storing them at ambient room temperature,” said Jay Tolley, the operations and quality manager at FoodTest.

>The bottom line: because of the differences in hen vaccination policies, Americans are advised to store their eggs in the fridge, but Britons can rest assured that whichever storage method they choose is completely safe.

Bought one of these grates at Walmart for 5 bucks. I canoe camp so weight isnt an issue. I can cook steak, whole veggies and also make hobbo dinners on it. I usually put chunks of beef, or trout with canned potatoes, mushrooms and garlic cloves. I add some butter and salt, pepper, Cayenne, cumin, paprika Then wrap it in foil. I use thick leather gloves to turn the packages. Freaking delicious after paddling and fishing all day.
