Can anyone ID this little guy? Found him while on a hike in NE Georgia.

I think that's a Northern Water Snake. Their colors vary a good deal, some have that red color like you see there.

I looked on a few other forums and I got that reply. I think you're right. The red on some is much more noticeable than on this one.

There are a lot of exceptions. That's more of a North American rule outside of coral snake territory.
