I've decided to start getting serious about all this.
I'm starting to garden, I started to learn how to fire rifles, planning on renovating some old house of us, etc.

What are some of the essential guide you'll recommend?
* general
* military guides
* surgery, medicine
* bushcraft

My first advice would be:
Survive the economic collapse, by Piero San Giorgio
Synthetical, didactic, complete, explain the causes and their consequences and what you should do about all of this.

Is pic related a good starter for bushcraft?

You're welcome, anon. That's just the tip of the iceberg: I'm currently uploading the docs folder, and it's got over a gig of pdfs (including the foxfires, sorry for the overlap) covering everything from military manuals to ragnar's urban survival to tanning and leatherwork to trapping and furs to medical to... well, here's a screenshot of the subfolders in docs. Doesn't really do the collection justice, to be honest. Guess you'll just have to get it and see if there's anything there you can use.

Love roos. They're good fun to watch. Don't like hitting them in the car though. They're also great meat. Most of all though they're gorgeous little fuckers, especially if they're domesticated or used to humans do you can give them a pat or hand feed them.

Other than Roos also have wallabies, wombats, cheeky fucken kookaburras, echidnas, eagles, possums, as well as deer, pigs, foxes and rabbits for plenty of hunting. And there's shitloads of all of them around. I don't kill the native species or any birds because that's a cunt's act, apart from roos if you can get a property owners permission, but there's plenty of other shit to hunt that makes for a good stalk and usually good eating too. Fuck I love this country.

Protip: Stay away from The Bushcraft Bible by James Henry.

>published in 2015
>the author writes as if he lived a hundred years ago
I was really disappointed by how he seems to be stuck in the past. Just reading his suggestions on what to wear, it's like he ignores all modern developments in clothes and equipment and suggest only things people wore two hundred years ago
>>
>>684013
Was that his point though?
If the intention was to write about what was used in the past that's neat.
If the topic was the best overall then there is a problem.
>>
>>683987
When I do, I'll be sure to post about it in whatever thread happens to be active at the time.

It was to write about bushcraft and what you need to be good at that, nothing in the summary on the back of the book suggests that he writes like a man from the past.

All too often survival skills authors seem to simply lift a technique from a book written by someone else 20 years before. It doesn't seem to matter if it works or not, or whether the conditions have to be exactly right for it to work, they just paste it into their books. It has become obvious that most of the authors have never even tried many of the techniques since the techniques they write about don't work or need such specific conditions to work that you never find the exact right conditions in which to use the techniques.

This book is different.Every single skill presented is detailed and clear. They have all worked for me in REAL conditions. It is obvious that the author has not only written about the skills, but has spent long hours LIVING the skills and perfecting them. There is advice and observations that I have found nowhere else, another good indication that the author has written from experience rather than from reading what other people have already written and regurgitating outdated or worthless knowledge (and knowledge that doesn't work becomes dangerous in the bush).

His attention to detail (he even drew all the drawings in the book himself)and his great concern for safety in performance of the skills goes unmatched.

I would hardily recommend this book to anyone who wants to feel a little safer when they may be faced with an unexpected emergency, whether you are a backpacker, mountaineer, camper, outdoor enthusiast, or simply driving in your vehicle in a snow storm. This book could save your life one day, when you least expect it.

but it's a survival handbook, it will give you basics for surviving special situations, but it is not meant to learn you specific skills like bushcrafting, hunting, ninjutsu, quantum physics, elemental sorcery, timetravel etc.
