looking around for a new backpack and on a budget my local surplus place has a ton of these 3 day assault packs on sale anyone have good experiences are they worth checking out? or any recommendations for cheap packs
>>
If it's the same as what's on Google, then it's only about 30L, so a day pack really. For that you can basically use anything.

well the one i have my eyes set on is a 50L with waist strap and all i am trying to get just a new hiking pack

I have a 50L pack and it works for 2-5 days but honestly I'd just recommend something more like 65L or 75L that you can use for longer should you want to.

Try a Kelty Redwing 50, the way it's made you can strap on more shit if you need to, and you can get them fairly cheap now. Good pack for the money.

pic related. not mine. mine's coyete brown.

I have this pack, it's pretty decent but doesn't hold loads. It is a good 72hr pack but anything longer you may struggle

Woot has a sale on packs now. Go there under the sport section.

Teton sports has packs on amazon for cheqp, like $60 for a decent sized pack, my brother has one. It's actually nice.

lk 35 less than 20 quid and basically indestructible
>>

I've found that the larger ones work pretty well for holding my photo gear and enough crap for a few days.

What makes a pack last for certain days?
I guess it depends on the location, but let's say you're able to buy food on the road. What else would hold you back from keep tracking forever?

amount fresh clothing you can carry?

LK35, cheap, near indestructible, easily modified, great option for beginners and non-ultra-lighters alike.
