This basically what I use. I've slept along the freeway several times, just behind the tree line. Hundreds, if not thousands of people passing by that never notice me there because their focus is on the road. Its amazingly freeing to just throw down a bed roll anywhere and sleep.

I camp /in/ my friend's basement most weekends. It's fine during summer, but during winter it's colder than fishcunts down there. I sleep in my 20º bag on a cot, but when it's really frigid I have my fleece bag inside as an inner layer. It's glorious but getting up in the morning is horrible

I'd buy some Texas land in bumfuck nowhere. Cheap land, like 40k for 100 acres. Go out there every weekend and start building a small cabin. Use this cot thing to camp there while I'm working. Building the foundation, frame, etc. Finally get the walls up and some solar led lights for the inside. Setup a large tank to capture rain water, setup a small filtration system. Maybe just pony up the cash to drill a well for water. Propane powered fridge. Bring ice for the first day while the fridge is cooling down, because let's face it propane fridges take a while to get cool. Maybe a yeti cooler, would be worth it to stay there for a few days. Then transfer everything over to the fridge. Make an outhouse that uses saw dust to cover the poop. Let the poop sit for a few months and breakdown, have some nice fertile soil to build a garden in the back and get some rich green grass growing around the place. Blamo now I have a nice getaway spot, all thanks to this cot/camper. Thank you based Cabela.

I lost interest in it when I got a little older. Realized I like my bed and my cable a lot. I need somebody to go with if I do it. My dad and I used to do some fishing trips and set up the tent right by the river in Wisconsin, that was fun. But I was probably like 10. At this point, I would like to get a weekend fishing trip going, either Lake Okechobee or up north like St. John's river. Rent a boat, and probably just get a hotel room. I need to convince my bro to go with when he has some time off work and school. He is my only fishin' buddy, and I just recently got him interested in it.
If I could get my little bro into it, I would grab a cheap tent and a lantern. But I don't know if he would be into it. I'm not sure about camping in FL either. I'd have to go up north or do it when the weather is cool enough to not cook in the tent and get eaten by bugs.
