My girlfriend just ate a knife tip full of Pine resin.

Is she going to die?
>>
>>635373

She should be OK.
>>
Almost certainly not
>>

Pine sugar actually used to be a common sweetener for native Americans, and the needles were frequently used as a source of vitamin C. Pine pulp is still used in food today as a filler/fibre source. Pine nuts are used in salads, and have a buttery/minty flavor. Pine pollen can be used as a flour substitute. Pine is completely edible.

Unless she's allergic, in which case yeah, she'll probably die.
>>
OK if it's not one of the species containing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isocupressic_acid and then it's still pretty much fine.

Unless it's Yew (not a pine)...just don't eat that shit

Happy to help. Are you sure it's pine, though? I forgot to mention that other trees can have other compounds in them which may not be good for you. Some cedars for instance, contain thujone (or a similar compound I'm too lazy to look up) that can cause hallucinations or death in large quantities. I'm sure there's others, as well, but like I said, lazy.
>>
>>635393
Yew can eat the berries just spit the pit.
>>
>>635407
can cause death in large quantities eh?
>>
>>635463
I believe that's what I read. Personally however, I haven't died from Thurmond consumption. I did see pink and purple outlines of elephants after drinking a moderate quantity of imported absinthe, though.
>>
>>635484
Thujone. No idea why that's not in my phone's dictionary...

Stomach acid bro

Are pine trees not common in your area?
>>
>>635373

>>635531
I live in Vermont, so they're really common. Do nuts from any old pine tree work?

Hey Vermontbro. This is the only board I regularly see other people from this state on.

We're pretty common on /k/ too. How's the 4:30 moonlight treating you?

Let's not have that thread again.

Sorta. Some varieties of pines have larger pine cones than others, and the size of the cones is proportional to the size of its nuts... I had something for this, I swear... the best are around California and Nevada, from what I understand and most commercial pine nuts are from China I think. It could just be American prejudice or just that fact that pine nuts spoil very quickly, but most people seem to agree that American pine nuts taste better.
>>
>>635373
All parts of pine trees are edible, just most are not palatable. Resin is fine as well as making tea from the pine needles and eating the tasty bits of the inner lining of the bark. Pine seeds are amazing. Just stay away from Yew trees.

She should be fine. But keep an eye out because she might come down with PSLD ( Pine Sol Lady Disease). Which will gradually turn her into a large black lady.

Given that is has traditionally been used as candy and still is sold as such... I would go with no.

I usually break off the buds on spruces I happen to pass when I'm out walking

Taste pretty good

Only if she kills herself then you for being a faggot.

I just ordered a bottle of pine oil/resin. It's going to be delicious. I'm going to drink it and fast on it and become an immortal mountain hermit, as it is an ennobled substance.

Thanks for reminding me I need to add some to my first mead recipe, too.

pine trees themselves can be pulled to the ground with rope and then released to act as a catapult.
