Well i've been living in Germany for quit some time. The Laws here are pretty straight foreward when it comes to knives. Police already took a very good knive from me because i could snap it open with one Hand. I walked back home- in frustration anger and tears- an fucked up another knife of mine so that Police can't take it with them if they stop me again.
What was ur worst Knife Fuckep?

German No 2 reportin in.

I carry my Blades in the backpack... until I am outside a City/village.

I never would "fuck up" a knife only because of Policeslaves/law

i think i hated the serrated edge and the 11 CM Law was clearly broken. so i trimmed it down to 9 und deleted the serrations. i deeply regret that i went full retard. -.-.

german no.3 repotin in

welp that one fugged up knife

look at this pic the blade length is defined s the length to the parry guard. (red length)
you dont look at the cutting edge (yellow) and you dont subtract the bottom bit (green) just because its different.
it needs to be shorter then 12 cm or it will never be legal
most accurate summary i have seen in the past is >http://www.vivalranger.com/index.php/wissensdatenbank/outdoorrecht/96-outdoorrecht-teil-i-messer-machete-multitools
(this covers other out door legal stuff in the other sections)

but if you carry it in your bag you will almost never have any problems.
unless you cause suspicion that the knife could be use as weapon and not as a tool. if you look like a homeless guy at the train station at 3 am you might get fucked. if you are sharpening your stick to bbq some sausage at the baggersee no one will give a shit.
>>
>>478783
I already grinded the tip down to 11.9 CM
now its a batoning knife only. and its 100%legal. but if i compare it to how it looked before i'm nearly burst into tears ;)

I never had the problem with police and I have been carrying illegal knife on a daily basis. I was never searched, I dont even understand how can someone get searched..

Just dont give them any reason to search you and you are all set. Also, the whole point of /out/ is going to places where there is no police, right? If you were waving your knife around in public, I guess you were wrong..

Beside, knife is a terrible, utterly terrible thing for self defense/protection. How can you protect yourself with a knife? You are just going to kill that other person. Even if you do not have a moral problem with killing, its still an awful thing because they will lock you up.

Those small expendable batons are easy to carry, easy to conceal, can break a leg or an arm easily, can incapacitate person with ease, and it will not kill them.

I 'accidentally' into a right wing meeting on my way home from work near my house.
Commies protesting so there where some police around, but fairly calm.
Suddenly plain clothes cop/agent grabbed my arm and was like "you have a knife! he have a knife here! why you have a knife?" etc. I was wearing my work gear and I carry a Mora in a side pocket.
I somehow managed to talk myself out of the situation and the police just took my mora 2000 (without its sheath lolwut) and sent me away, still carrying a box cutter and a scissor... Pretty lucky I wasn't arrested and given a fine which would probably have been around 1000-1500€.

>mfw the police stole my Mora.
>>
>>478772
B-but then it's legal to carry any knife at all.

A-are your a terrorist?
>>
>>478752

>>
>>478786
yeah it was a good looking knife.
but be careful there might be extra laws in some circumstances. like when there more people around, like if the is a demonstration near by or even just a escorted football club on their way back from the game. or troubled areas like nightlife districts.

>>478790
when i was young i was stopped by the police (for setting off fireworks of season lel ) they stopped so i knew i was busted and started walking towards them, and while i was passing behind a parking car i dropped my butterfly knife on the ground along with lots of other shit.
>>
>visibly carrying anything """dangerous""" in public

You shitlords do not seem to understand the emotional response 99.9% of stupid people have. Congratulations I guess.

If you wear a knife in public, wear it like I do. Pin it to your underwear, behind your pants. That way no one can see it and no one can go "omgomgomg cereal killer" on your ass.
>explaining to people that tools are tools
You get what you deserved..
>>
>>478787
I wasnt dressed up like osama or something. i was just wandering around the mountains in bavaria with a friend of mine when suddenly a car passed by and two cops jumped out. aggressive as shit- i had no chance, it was just a regular folding knive but the hurensöhne totally jerked of about it. they thought i'm a drug transport guy. plus they hated the fuck out of me when they became aware that i'm from Berlin.
>>
>>478813
It's common for construction workers to open carry knives here. I edc folders with civvie clothes and have never had any problem. I leave it home if I'm going on football/soccer games etc. where there are pet downs or there's an increased risk of being detained. I prefer to underwear carry in the front as there's less chance of detection if only casually frisked and also 'faster' deployment.
>>
>>478824
Man I live in Serbia, a shithole: the country, and I never had to 'fast deploy' a knife. I assume you are a first world citizen (as in actual first world, western Europe and such) so I really, really doubt that you will ever in your life have to be faster then the other guy because your life depends on it..

You might bump in on some merry drunkard or some scared kid trying to pickpocket you, and in your paranoia you might kill the poor idiot. Seriously, you cant defend with a knife. Not even with slashes. You are just going to end locked up for a very, very long time over a very, very stupid life decision.

Knife is a useful tool, but absolutely horrid for self defense in an environment full of police and laws and courts and 'civilization'.

The mafia here (Sweden) was pretty much run by serbs in the 80s and 90s. And now we have to deal with all the arabs and niggers coming here. I have friends that have been experienced this multiculturalism in the forms of stabbing mugging and rape. You shouldn't assume so much.

I've never had to use a knife against someone else and I hope I'll never have to do that. One must remember that anything you carry can be taken from you and be used against you. But it's an equalizer and I rather have it on me than not.
>>
What german law permits you carry around?
>>
>>478851
* for example, if you are doing a trip across europe by train you can't have any kind of knife with you?
>>
>>478846
Well that's because Sweden is tumblr: the country. Here in Serbia, criminals have to move to Sweden to do crime. And what is up with writing Sweden with capital S and Serbs with a lower case s?

Swedish stupidity is Swedish problem I guess... enjoy rape and violent crime and immigration from actual 3rd world and theft and so on. You chose it.

I swear, multiculturalism is ONE thing I will never, for the life of me understand. I will go to my grave without understand why would someone want cultures that perform worse over cultures that perform better.
>>
New york state knife laws are weird. From what I understand anything thats not spring loaded or weird exotic weapons (sword canes, punch knives, throwing stars) are legal based on intent. Meaning, I could carry a sword down my pants, so long as I didn't plan on stabbing someone with it. I guess? I suppose if you wanted a knife for self defense, used it for such, then got arrested for it, you'd still come out ahead, being still alive.

Unless Im in the woods I just carry a pocketknife anyway.
>>
>>478851
We, the germans, are aloud of carring a fulltang knife up to12 cm. But anything that can be operated with one hand, no matter how small, is considered a weapon and will result in high priced tolls to pay up to50000 € . of couse i cant Carry a knife in public railways, big places and so on.

ITT: OP is an autistic kid that cries over his knife being confiscated.

If it's the law not to have one, and you broke the law, don't cry over losing the knife. If it was so fucking valuable then you shouldn't have been running around with it trying to be wanabee tacticool.

Since when have germans been such cry-babies
>>
>>478906
Since individual Germans are tired of living in a nanny state. A law shouldn't be followed if it's not a law worth following.
>>
>>478906
op seems to from berlin which is like the most "progressive" city in Germany, all the hipsters, anti-vaxers, wanna be revolutionary are contained there. not that i want to shit on op but draw your conclusions
its a simple case of: if you do the crime you do the time. op hoped for leniency but didn't get so now hes mad at the "man".
>>
OP should get an Opinel or a Douk Douk. Or a SAK. Or a Case. Or a Mercator. Or a Buck 110. Or a Higo No Kami. So many good knives. A shame you can't carry one hand opening knives, there's a lot of great designs out there. Hmm, I guess a fixed blades and nail nicks for you.
>>
>>478820
Berlin? Hope you never soil our holy bavarian nation again, you fuck.
>>
>>479109
You can carry a mchete if that is your wish. You have, however, to be able to say why. If you whack bush, then that is called a Bedürfnis. If you carry a 30cm butchers knife and you are about to cut meat, than that is a Bedürfnis as well.

Softair kids with full camo and a double edged attack knife can't just say they are on a batoning quest.

Besides, the law was made for the city, police don't patrol the forrests in germany.

Also, if there is a law, you better obey it unless you have a reason not to. Imagine the gubbermint would not obey it because it's inconvenient, you would be pissed.

I'm a student, Czech, I carry a small folder (can open it with one hand, kek). I've got a nice greentext that happened to me.

>be at electroworld
>buying headphones for Xmas for mom
>older couple in front of me buying vacuum cleaner
>old man says "Could you show us how this one button system works?"
>salesman goes to open box
>no box cutters
>Tactically take my folder out of pants pocket
>Open
>Switch grip
>hand it by the blade to the salesman
>Old guy: "No good man without a knife, right?"
>Old woman: "I've got one too, you know. You were faster"
>"Glad I could help"
>Chat pleasantly with couple
They took it as a completely normal thing for me to have a knife. Each of them carried one, as I found out.

On second thought, I may have pointed with the blade at the salesman before flipping grip.

@all germanfags:

To all foreignfags: Just keep it in your backpack and nothing happens to you. It is legal to have a big knife for camping/hiking - just not to carry it open and ready to use.
Forbidden are only Butterfly and one-hand lockable folding knifes.

So I got this Puma pocket knife from my grandfather and it was a bitch to open for a long time, constantly breaking my fingernails. I read around online a bit and came across this 'tutorial' on how to loosen it up and make it easier to open. So I put it in a bath of hot water and dish soap for over night. When I checked it out the next morning, three of the tools (the ones pictured) were completely loose swinging out with gravity alone. There's absolutely no resistance whatsoever holding them inside. However, the other three tools on the other side of the pocket knife are even stuck even more now and almost impossible to open.

Does anybody know what exactly I did to my knife? How can a bit of soap change metal this drastically over night? How do I fix a pocket knife that is loose/stubborn and doesn't have any screws? Please excuse my English.

@Amerifucks: Not interesting for you at all. Knifes are no weapons (basically unusuable for self defence) but tool.

Hey, you can get searched even if you're white
The most embarrassing time was when I had to say "I may have a screwdriver and other miscellaneous tools in my side pocket".
I was dismantling a TV on the side of the road, they had me handcuffed.
(But then released me after 5 minutes.)

so what about a sheath knife? I can operate that with one hand. In Canada I think the laws are similar (nope. looking it up apparently no size restriction!) but mainly switchblades and stuff were the no-no. Where I live people actually get stabbed fairly regularly so I'm an advocate of not carrying a knife around in urban areas.

Anyway the laws were clear and you broke them OP. Don't talk to the cops, talk to the legislators if you want to change it. Maybe they were dicks but it was also their duty to confiscate the knife. I don't see what good destroying another knife does, although +1 point for destroying a gerber.

despite the appearance of 'save alive dump the knife' shit media campaigns we see here in the UK, I've had this several times.

>be in supermarket
>cashier struggles with sealed bad of change
>unclip swissarmy knife from keys, flip and pass over the handle
>gratuitous response from queue behind me

>be in Halfords (autoshop type place)
>guy ahead of me has jut paid for a combi spanner to do something to his car outside
>he's trying to chew the spanner free of the plastic packaging
>same as before unclip swiss army knife, flip and pass over to him
>look of awe on his face, was like primitive man making fore for the 1st time...

>be at zoo with wife last summer
>sit down for picnic lunch
>pop out pocket knife to slice a bit of pork pie
>stressed out farther with 2 screaming kids is wrestling with overpriced toys bought at the giftshop
>spots pocket knife
>asks if he can borrow it, give it a wipe and hand over
>mfw his significant other says 'you should have something like that too' to him
>mfw my wife says she wants one too

carrying one on you is fine really as long as it's not some ferocious and stabby looking tacticool shank, and you're not flashing it around, or attracting attention to yourself

I carry a wicked meme switchblades every day. No one cares at all. Feels good man.

I did tip a knife trying to wedge open a container. Feels bad man.

not a knife fuckup, but knife related. Just dropped my ceramic rods and they snapped. Was planning on upgrading to dia+cer lansky kit, but i'm still somewhat annoyed.

And no one but my clumsy self to blame.

I like my various ceramic stones and rods but I hate how delicate they are, you can break a natural stone pretty easily too but ceramics are just so damn brittle

I carried a straight razor when I was an edgy teen. they're real light and concealable. I bent it to keep it permanently open and regretted it, it was a classy knife.
