Costco has the best, and fastest gas pumps. No stupid bullshit.
>insert member card
>insert payment card
>reciept yes/no

no stupid shit asking for promotion cards, or car wash.
Not asking if its a debit, or credit card. It knows.
No stupid billing zip code
Doesn't ask for receipt AFTER you finished pumping

>Long ass hose can fuel from either side.
I pull up to my local costco in Brookfield all the time to the right hand pumps and then extend the hose to fuel my car with the tank on the left, people look at me like I have three heads even though there are clearly signs that say "LONG HOSES REACH BOTH SIDES".

I hate waiting at gas stations, I'd rather pay ten cents extra a gallon and not wait.

Connecticut resident here. It varies by town. I've seen as low as $2.10/gal to upwards of $2.50. I think my town is around $2.29.

I remember when Connecticut had some of the most expensive gas in the country. It was only a year or two ago when it was over $4.00/gal. Let's hope those days never come back.

Gas prices are still like that... in very limited parts of the country.
>>
>>13818757
You know given that Alaska is one of the biggest oil producing states you'd think they'd have lower gas prices.

I know that they only get the crude oil and then it has to be shipped to refineries on the Gulf coast and then shipped back to Alaska as gasoline which is a very expensive process and is why they have such high prices but you'd think they would build a few refineries in Alaska to mitigate that problem.
>>
>>13818771
They produce crude, they dont process it there.
>>
>>13818784
I know, my point is they should. Even if it's just small-scale.
>>
$1.47/gal.

I thought it was funny a few years ago when americans were complaining about $4/gallon.

>Live in Sweden
>High taxes on wages
>High sales taxes on everything you buy with said wage
>Rediculously high taxes on gas
>1 gallon 95 octane (RON) = $5.20

And btw the fuel prices here are actually the lower than they have been in years. In fact they are so low that the current Social Democratic and Green Party government decided to raise taxes on fuel. Feels bad man.....
>>
$1.80 per litre of 95 (standard petrol)
$6.9 per gallon of 95 (standard petrol)
>>
>>13818852
minimum wages in the US are lower, many areas have horrible public transportation, things are built so far apart a car is basically a requirement to live for most americans. for the poorest, $4/gal gas was a huge impact on their lifestyle.
>>
$2.59 in the border of L.A/O.C for 87 Arco.

I don't get why people buy at Costco here tho. There's always long lines and the prices are like 5-10 cents bellow 76 and certainly more than Arco here.
>>
>>13818927
In the area where I am (CT), Costco readily beats all the nearby stations by ten cents. Still, I'm not crazy about long lines; I show up when they open so I can fuel up and then do my costco run. Mid-day, if it's packed, it's not worth waiting 10 minutes over $2.

I'm on the border of Westchester county so I spend a decent amount of time in Putnam. Area is nice, Putnam is a lot less expensive than westchester. School quality varies by area. You can get to NYC when you want to (not a short in-and-out trip but an easy day trip when you want to do it) without all the bullshit taxes and traffic of the city. I like living here, but I will probably relocate from Westchester to Putnam for more favorable rental prices and slightly lower taxes in the near future.

Most pumps in the US will ask you about car washes, ask if you have a rewards card, every single one will ask if you wanna pay with credit, or debit when using a debit card, and in urban areas they ask for billing zipcode.

you telling me when you fill up at Tim Hortons it doesnt ask if you wanna buy a medium coffee with that?

There are processing facilities all across america with pipelines for crude and processed products.
Cali, Texas, and Alaska all have several processing facilities/companies.
(gas stations get gas provided to them by their parent company that produces the oil/disel,
many gas station brands are literally the same except for name)

1) No one can feasibly steal my Costco membership. If they do, Costco has them on security footage and it is their problem.
2) It's not written by pen or sharpie, it's printed with a holographic strip, and would be obscured if a skimmer is placed over it.
3) There's an October 2016 mandate for gas pumps to take credit card chips (which cannot be cloned) from Mastercard, which costco is converting to.
4) All that being said, credit card liability in the US for fraudulent charges is $0 from major banks. I read my statement once a month for bullshit, tell them if I didn't charge anything, and it gets refunded. Been through it more than once since we didn't have chips for a looooong time.

>1) No one can feasibly steal my Costco membership. If they do, Costco has them on security footage and it is their problem.

A lot of stations have security cameras but that doesn't seem to stop skimmer assholes.

>2) It's not written by pen or sharpie, it's printed with a holographic strip, and would be obscured if a skimmer is placed over it.

It just has to look good enough to pass a casual glance, which is all most people bother to do because they're more focused on getting their gas. Granted, this is a problem with stupid people more than anything else, but really that tape is just there as a reassuring measure, the station going "Yeah we check this from time to time", more than any actual deterrent.

>3) There's an October 2016 mandate for gas pumps to take credit card chips (which cannot be cloned) from Mastercard, which costco is converting to.

Skimmers can still get your info and use your data on services like online purchases where your card chip doesn't come into play, so this doesn't really mean anything.

Yeah, but it's still enough of a pain in the ass to deal with that it's really just worth the extra trouble of never using a card reader that isn't indoors and in view of most of a place's staff from dusk til dawn.

I actually check

>Skimmers can still get your info and use your data on services like online purchases where your card chip doesn't come into play, so this doesn't really mean anything.
Online purchases are either liability on merchant or require the CVV2 printed on the back, this is not contained on the chip or magswipe.

>Yeah, but it's still enough of a pain in the ass to deal with that it's really just worth the extra trouble of never using a card reader that isn't indoors and in view of most of a place's staff from dusk til dawn.

For Costco yes, its $50 a year.

Makes up for buying TP alone. 30 rolls of Scotts TP for $22.
Gallon if Windex for $10
Gallon of mayo $7
Cheaper alcohol. Bottle of Dom is $150 vs $200 at most places.
Only place where a can of Guinness comes out to $1 out of a 24 pack.

You dont need to have a big family, or household. Just buying regularly use items saves.
General rule of Costco is twice the price for 4x the product.
