What are your red flags or deal breakers when buying a used vehicle?
>pic related
>not enough information: no picture, mileage, year, transmission
>call me for information / come see it for yourself!!
>it just needs _____, which is included, don't feel like fixing it
>smog is buyer responsibility
>no test drives
>firm
and not always, but generally
>salvage
I feel like I'm missing some, but that's all I could think of right now.
Failed compression tests.

Biggest deal breaker for me is if it's over $2,000
I hate being poor
>>13811654
>tfw iktf
>>13811583
>salvage
>rust
>zero service documentation or evidence that it has been done
>no test drives
>woman driver
>just a couple of simple fixes (if they were simple the nigger would have done them)
>>13811583
>been like that since I bought it, doesn't affect how it drives and doesn't bother me
hallmark of a shitty PO
>>13811677
>>woman driver
>>13811677
>small fixes
This, if it was just a $50 part and a couple of bolts your ass would have done it instead of taking a hit on the value of the car because it doesn't work right.
is "need gone today" one?
>>13811677
>just a couple of simple fixes (if they were simple the nigger would have done them)
I just don't have the five minutes in my day to install this easy part
>>13811787
depends on the reason
>>13811798
meanwhile while I don't have the time for that I do have the time for regular oil replacements and taking great care of the bike!
Apart from shady mechanical shit,
>never driven hard
>selling to get something more practicable
someone in my street was selling an sti, said the same thing in their advert, yet every morning i hear them redline 1st and 2nd from a cold start. then they buy an evo, heaps more practicable kek
>>13811844
numbers matching is your trigger because only something boomers care about or because totally not numbers matching?
>cute
>http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/5298422700.html
>carbs just need cleaning
NOPE
>>13811907
numbers matching may be a sign that the owner is a retard and its better to just not bother
>needs full restoration
>25k
yep
>automatic
>any rust
>>13811583
When buying a Honda, nonVTEC is the deal breaker. Rebuilt tranny, dirty, rusted engine and I won't even consider the car
>Can't spell or use proper grammar worth a shit
>not enough pictures
>"Needs X, don't have time/money/whatever for it"
>"5 minute fix"
>>13811583
>"Tastefully modified"
>>13812025
>bro just clean the carb it's fine
>"why don't you just clean it and then sell it at a higher price"
>I don't have time for it
>>13811583
>No pictures with plates
>Pictures with plates covered or edited
>Stock photos lifted off google
>Pictures on a potato phone
>No pictures at all
>"Great runner"
>"Only X miles per year!" on a 250,000+ miles 30 year old car
>Listed at £1 "Shoot me an offer"
>MOT failure "only needs X to pass!"
>"Rare automatic" on a sportscar or 1980s econobox
>Location: London
>>13811583
>tfw when bought a car that didn't run off of craigslist
>tfw when one power module and fuel filter later I have a running car for a third of the cost it should've been
Still could've had a wrecked transmission or something and I would've never known though.
Oh and on topic
>look through parts receipts
>all chinese eBay performance shit
>>13813872
>>Pictures with plates covered or edited
That's usually to hide the address of the person that's selling the car.
>>13813904
Also means I can't use the free government services to check MOT history and accident status
>Female owned
>>13813952
There's only two possible female owned results
>Middle aged to old lady that went to the garage on time for every single service, drove 800 miles a year to and from Wal Mart and Church and spent 99% of it's life garage
>Young to middle aged woman that couldn't care less about the car, commutes 200 miles a day to work, still has factory oil at 150,000 miles and only saw the inside of a garage when the timing belt snapped
>>13811907
Literally every time I've seen numbers matching on a car that wasn't up for auction or $50,000, it's had no engine or tranny in it
>>13811583
the whole "safety of you" is retarded.
But I'd never let anyone test ride my bike unless I had the full amount of cash in my hand for when they drop the fucking thing just leaving my driveway or turning around.
Especially if its a 250, which 99% of people have as a starter bike or a cheap track bike.
>>13814018
the thing is already dented.cracked (its been fucking dropped/crashed at a decent speed) and why would you expect someone to buy your bike if you can't even see if it runs properly
>>13813969
Most people who put "female owned" on an ad, naturally, are trying to imply the former, but it's usually the latter 9 times out of 10 I find.
>>13811583
An ad that looks like it was written by a retarded 16 year old girl on a cell phone
>>13814018
Bruh if you think I'd fuckin buy your bike based on trust, you're stupid. If you're selling it, you take the persons keys or leverage so they don't leave with the bike or without insurance
Thumb over license plate
>>13814698
i've never seen that
>>13817104
Here's an example. Although I realized more people just aren't taking pictures of the back of their car.
>>13817152
thats fucking dumb, why do people insist on not giving full details on a shit car online unless they got something to hide.
>>13814018
>But I'd never let anyone test ride my bike
fuck off.
No red flags, I just inspect every vehicle thoroughly. I once tried to buy an Acura Legend, the owner said that it was in perfect condition, only the front bumper was bent and there was some rust.
It turned out that only four out of six cylinders worked, it had a blown gasket and low oil (the guy said that he drove it everyday)
God I wanted to punch him in the face so bad.
>>13811654
kek, same here. Then again, I tend to drive my cars unlike most people so leasing or financing one wouldn't make sense.
