they've helped me get insane deals on vehicles (some of them don't use the internet very well, so they have their own marketplaces) and i've learned a lot about wrenching from them because they're retired and have more time to fuck around and get less stressed when things don't go right
also, when they get too old to wrench and their shitty millennial kids have no interest in cool old shit, they unload their lifetime collection of tools onto you
