Has anyone here ever had a shady mechanic try to rip you off only for him to find out that you're not completely ignorant when it comes to auto repair?
Also, botched repair/incompetent mechanic/scam-artist horror stories in general.

Never, ever go to a kwik-fit franchisee. I only went there because the spare was practically a slick.
New owners didn't give a fuck that there were three brands of tires on the car when I sold it, though. They were just happy to get a running car with a loud stereo, decent handling, and loltorque at that price level.
I was just happy to unload the moneypit because I didn't have anywhere to keep it.
I still miss it. First car feels, I guess.
