Post what you're driving through the winter.
>not having a secondary vehicle to keep unnecessary wear and tear on your nice aut/o/

>tfw driving my daily year round because poor

S10 single cab with the 4cyl.

Surprisingly it has some balls with the winter tires I have. On Saturday when it was snowing I went to an empty parking lot and became takumi. No weight in the bed and the snow was halfway up my tires, I was actually surprised I didn't get stuck.

I can't wait until the next snow storm, I'm going to have a lot of fun.

>babbys first winter with rwd
>babbys first experience with winter tires

I got Cooper weathermaster st/2's on if anyone's curious

I just slap on winter tires and some kitty litter in the trunk and hope for the best.

Luckily it doesn't snow much here, and when it does it isn't very much. Since even with snow tires I slide across it like an ice skater

My other is a 1987 Jeep Comanche 4 speed.

This is a 1995 GMC 5 speed 4.3ltr 4x4 160k

Last weekend was the first snow fall here in Michigan. No struggles just went out for fun. Last year I did it in a 1998 Jetta with 13" rims. Good god its like there isnt even snow when you turn or take off. Braking yeah..thats the same or worse lol.

Nice looks about the same as mine. Minus my drivers door will not open do to ( not mine suspected tbone ) Didnt bend the frame or anything just enough to keep the door jammed. If I replace the door I will only need to fab the running board and area leading to the latch. Rest of the body shows nothing to eye. But its old and Ill prolly never have time for it. Runs good as hell though. 30+ years all original minus normal maintenance. Says SporTruck on the side lol
>>
>>13923291
What engine is in yours?

Id probably put sporttruck decals on mine for the dank rice factor if I was keeping it. Can get repros online

Ma beast from the east lol. 180k

Will turn on every single time no fault. 4 speed strong. 3k on clutch replacement a few years ago. Bought with the crushed door for...500 with 3k on papers of a new clutch. As well as another k in normal maintenance.

I bought it in Flint Michigan where I live 10 minutes from. It sounds like a deal , but where I live mechanics are cheap and looking good is hard.
>>
>>13923405
Came stock on my other comanche and I swapped them over since this one was on rotted bald walmart tires.

New it probably was on steelies since its a base model.

Does your 2.5 deal with cold weather well? I know my vac leaks dont help but shes a bitch to keep running when the engine is cold on a sub 40* day.
>>
>>13923519

Ahhhhh! wow Im dumb. Yes it sucks on cold days. I said earlier it ran like a champ. Thats because my GMC was turning off within 3 secs do to something on semi-cold days ( was a MAPS(Mass Air Flow Position) sensor ( runs perfect now)) BUTT the Jeep will idle off in this weather last year. Surely today the same. What I did was get a umbrella that sat on the gas just right to keep it running until I jumped in. As long as I gave it gas on a ignition it never didn't get me to work.

I would say no worries if yours is the same with a lil gas an heat up time. I wasn't around in the 80s lol.

Yeah, kinda figured. TBI really is just a glorified carb.

protip for you pal, get 2 or 3 nickels and glue them together
stick them in the throttle lever under the hood to hold your idle at about 1100 rpm.

If its real cold and I don't want to be in the truck while it warms up I just do that.

two worked before we hit freezing temperatures the other day though.

Drive my colleague's 580 hp Ram SRT10 through winter in my town that's 50% cobblestone roads and say that again.
>>
>>13926210

What tires does he have?
>>
>>13926214
Summer tires because he can barely drive it in the wet and has a different car between October and March.
>>
>>13926222

Then what was the point in, seemingly, telling >>13926205 that he was wrong because he said that just about everything can be a perfectly fine DD for winter with winter tires and knowing how to drive according to the situation?

>>13926210

Cobblestones do suck, this was outside my old apartment. Fucking cobblestone hills.

Also what tyres does he have, probably some shit ones because he was dumb enough to buy that meme truck

No amount of driving skill can compensate for a lack of traction due to high levels of power on a limited number of wheels on a low grip surface even with winter tires, and posting a photo of an all wheel drive vehicle going through snow on studs isn't going to prove the opposite. Do you have any idea how slippery cobblestones are?

>>13926246

And here's the e39
>>
>>13926247

I do, but I also know how slippery straight ice is, and plenty of people around my parts drive large RWD-pickups like RAM 1500's, F250's and similar with no issues at all on ice, snow and any other surface, and I don't think the extra power of the SRT-10 is enough to make it completely shit

And the photo is just a photo for the viewers pleasure, not to hammer home a point or anything

With or without them. Some even run shitty tires like BFG AT's that have been given extra siping and still get around, although the braking capability and performance on straight black ice sucks ass

Have you ever gotten to try a car in proper winter conditions with proper, dedicated top-tier winter tires?
>>
>>13926269
We don't have proper winters here, only permanently wet, cold cobblestones.
>>
>>13926175

>implying my tires don't have siping from the factory. Just because they are large extreme offroad tires doesn't mean they don't do snow and ice well. Look up PitBull rocker radials, they are very aggressive tire that hooks up on just about every surface. See pic for tread design.

Implying they don't make tires that work excellent in many different terrains. This isn't your everyday mud tire.

Also I never said they'd work as well as studded snow tires on ice, but they'll work well enough that I won't crash. Good thing they salt the roads before the rare ice storms... lol

What year is it? from I think 88-93 they galvanized the metal on the 240's which made them rust much less.

As long as you clean it often it should be fine.

my 1990 has been through 25 winters and it does have rust in the usual spots but nothing compared to other cars from that time.
