I thought they went down the shitter [again] several months ago.
>>
>>15439894
>>15439896
Correct, they had to file something similar to bankruptcy because they didn't get a large sum of money owed by an Indian company (Hero).

Basically EBR designed a ton of motorcycles for them, but Hero never paid them.

They were bought out by an American industrial machinery company, though, and have returned to production.

The hayabusa will be annihilated in terms of outright performance by the H2, it's not really a competition once you unlock the throttle map of the H2 and get 240 hp out of it with no changes to anything other than the Fly by wire map (stock the bike is only at 33% throttle when pinned on the redline)

but.

The Hayabusa will be way comfier and easier to ride with a nice smooth engine and friendly fueling, great aero bubble keeping the wind off your and much cheaper / simpler to service. Ie. you could do it yourself while I wouldn't want to touch most stuff on the H2.

So it really comes down to what you're after, supersonic interstate or hypersonic weekend rides.

Personally, neither really fit my needs. Both are at least 40 kg overweight for what I'm after.

>carbs just add to it
Not really. Once they are set, leave them the fuck alone and always run an inline fuel filter from tank to carb inlet.
As long as you dont let it sit for months not running the carbs are fine. Even if you need too, you should fire it up once a month and move it so it isn't sitting on the same part of the tire.

I put an inline fuel filter on my efi bike. It picks up heaps of crap that the internal fuelpump/tank filters let through.

I only had to get one blocked injector to make me put that filter in.

Same shit happens to efi it is just more uncommon on efi. Some filters on efi bikes are built into the fuelpump, so it it gets blocked it just bypasses unfiltered fuel. Only way to clean it is to buy a new fuel pump.

Just keep them inflated to correct pressure, maybe a little over even.
Once a month roll bike forward or rotate wheel a foot or two.

Installed those Pyramid Parts fork seals. Test ride it for about 10km and one side is already showing signs of a slight leak.

You guys warned me.
OEM fork oil seals and dust seals are 75 dollarydoos per fork. The shitty pyramid parts only cost 40 for both.

I'll add that, the oilseal is $22 and the dust seal is like $43.

Should I get the OEM oil seals and aftermarket dust seals or just go aftermarket again but stayaway from pyramid parts.

Anyone got some brand recommendations?

Eric Buell Racing. Sportsbikes with Harley engines. Also a lot of small specialist manufacturers, all making huge displacement cruisers. There is one I forget the name off makes hipster 'classic' small displacement motorcycles and there is Rokon that makes solely a specialised off road motorcycle designed in the 60's and only survives through sales to foriegn militaries.

I wish Polaris would make real motorcycles.

You're generally required to have full coverage insurance when you finance a vehicle so you'd only be out the deductible when/if you break it.

By saving up and not living in a debt culture.

Outside of a house, if you can't afford it outright then maybe it's not worth having.

Plus if you finance a bike then write it off you still have to pay the bike off, even though you can't ride it any more.

Thoughts on a CRF450X as a DS made ADV capable?

Thinking it would be a more capable platform than a XR/DRZ/KLR while being easier to maintain (parts/aftermarket) than a EXC or Husky.

>Big tank
>Wind screen/fairing
>Oil cooler (to increase oil capacity, to help take the edge off oil change intervals)
>lightweight lithium battery
>Subframe modifications to carry any cargo, if necessary depending on the ride (spares, fuel, tools, provisions, etc)
>suspension adjustment to handle increased weight
>tires of course, for the situation being rode into
>taller gearing, either in the form of a simple sprocket swap, or cracking open the gearbox and putting a taller 5th (and maybe 4th) in it.

Budget is about 8k. Am I wrong to think this would make a worse bike than 8k worth of XR? This bike will be used in Northern Cali, North Nevada, West Utah, and occasional trips towards the northeast.

I think a CRF would be absolutely the worst option. Those unicam heads are notoriously unreliable and have a tendancy to wear out the heads rather quickly.

The EXC would be a good option IMO. The 2007+ came in street legal form already, and the earlier models aren't exactly street legal but are super easy to register in most places because the title/mso doesn't have "OFF ROAD ONLY" written all over it.

On top of that they have an amazing 6 speed transmission which can be geared high enough to cruise down the highway at a low RPM and still hit trails without having to lug through 1st gear all the time.

They have a ton of parts/support/aftermarket and are known to be pretty reliable for a race enduro too.

If you're planning on doing super long trips or lots of road riding though one of the others you mentioned (XRL/DRZ/DR/KLR) might be a far easier and more comfortable option.
>>
I had an awful lot of cruiser riders flat out ignore my existence when I tried to give them the "motorcycle wave" today. They just stared straight ahead and didn't even look in my direction as I passed by. Is it my helmet? If I wore a do-rag and sunglasses instead would they acknowledge me?

Serious question /dbt/

Is there anything special about slide in kneepads for kevlar jeans?

I've been meaning to pick some up since forever and today I was at Sports Authority and they had some youth thigh pads that seemed about perfect. They're just 1/3" thick dense foam padding, but I'm guess that's all slip in pads (at least the shit tier) are.

Thoughts?

you could get the XR650R. While it's not light like a 450, it's more reliable and distance capable, and not as heavy as the XRL/DR.

A couple people here have them and like them.

I have a dual sport 450. Hardly worth the hassle over the DRZ.
>>
>>15442236
you want some CE approved armor, not just some random foam padding
>>
>>15442252
this is for internal pockets on kevlar jeans that are already approved for 7s slide without armor

Armor is more to protect your knee from hard impacts than sliding. Your jeans may keep your knee from getting road rash but it won't keep your kneecap from shattering into 1000 pieces when it collides with a curb.
