So, I decided that I my next bike will be a KTM Freeride R 250, and putting a mirror on it to make it street legal. Hopefully the price drops on them in the next year. Really don't want to spend 8k on one but I will if I have to.
>>
>>15392705
where do you live that a mirror=street legal?

Tennessee.

All you need is headlight, taillight, and a left mirror

ahhhh not the ones for like bicycles, no. But the free ride comes with a headlight, tail light, and horn. so all I would have to do is put a fuckin mirror on and its street legal. I don't know if you should ride it street, but if you change the gearing on it, then it shouldn't be too bad.

I hope you want it to be street legal so you can legally cross the road to the next trail, and not so you can actually ride it on the road. The Freeride is made with slow, technical maneuvering in mind and not cruising down the street.

What does brexit mean for motorcycling in the UK?
Will we finally be rid of the rigmarole of the EU licensing structure? Or will they just keep it the same?
If we are no longer subject to EU emission and noise regulations will manufacturers make bikes specifically for the UK market?
Man, thinking about this stuff makes me realise how fucking complicated leaving the EU is actually going to be, some poor bastards actually need to sit down and sort all this shit out.

Most likely.

>will manufacturers make bikes specifically for the UK market?
No.
>>
>>15393482
And the gladius was a slightly restyled sv650
Ok, bit more than that, it had a pipe frame instead of beams, was heavier, but the issue with the gladius was not that it's a shit bike, because it's not bad at all, but because it was hideous and expensive, and the al7 fixes both glaring issues and therefore it's alright. It's fine. What do you want from me I am a banana.
You can't really say more than "it's alright" about the SV because being mediocre is part of its identity. It's a modern day UJM, and if it starts evolving too far into being sporty or comfy, it'll lose the handling, low price, comfort, or all three.
The only thing unique about an SV is the motor
>>
>>15393466
>Will we finally be rid of the rigmarole of the EU licensing structure? Or will they just keep it the same?
They'll keep it the same. The DVLA played a big part in actually devising that system. Plus, manufacturers like it because it creates a tiered system and forces people to buy more bikes overtime than they might otherwise.

We aren't going to escape Euro4 emission regulations. We might dodge Euro5.
Will manufacturers make non euro5 bikes specifically for the UK? Unlikely, given that we will still be geographically in the EU and probably still part of the single-market.
Don't expect anything to change, and if it will change, it will be far in the future.
You can look forward to it probably being more complicated and expensive to go touring in Europe, that's about it.
>>
>>15393466
>Man, thinking about this stuff makes me realise how fucking complicated leaving the EU is actually going to be, some poor bastards actually need to sit down and sort all this shit out.
LOL. It effectively require rewriting all the laws on the books that are based on EU legislation. And because Parliment is too lazy to sit continuously in session for the next few decades to review all that legislation, we're going to end up with a massive amount of laws rewritted with no oversight by civil servants.

So yes, leaving the EU de-facto means bringing into power laws written by ACTUAL unelected officials, rather than the EU laws which DID pass through the European Parliament as well as the UK parliament (contrary to the Leave campaign's ramblings).
>>
>>15393521
>You can look forward to it probably being more complicated and expensive to go touring in Europe, that's about it.

We might not get AT anon at next sem either.
>>
>>15393525
>DID pass through the European Parliament
MEPs can't vote against legislation, nor can they forward legislation, or repeal it.
And UK MPs cannot block EU legislation. They do not vote on it.

The European Parliament does not have Right of Initiative (i.e. cannot propose laws), but laws DO pass through it. The European Comission generates proposal, but they have to be approved by both the Eurpoean Council AND the European Parliament before they become law.

Instead we ended up going to Matlock Bath, having fish 'n' chips and then coming home on A Roads.

Also, people wanted one, a picture of my new screen from a distance

I only pay €50 more than just the tires to get them replaced.
Which in includes the tires, removing the wheels, putting the new tires on, balancing, putting them back on and disposing of the old tires.

Currently waiting for a call for the appointment, as he said he would have them this week.

Only 2 of us. My dad chose those parking spaces because that was a very nice Bonny I believe and off picture, to the right of his Street, was a brand new Street Twin. So 3 Triumphs in a row.

Female rider here, '07 Honda Shadow Spirit 750.

I was wondering what types of bags people use for riding? Right now I'm rocking a fanny pack to carry my phone/wallet/etc since I have tiny lady pockets that don't don't fit anything. It seems that my options are limited to stupid looking fanny/drop bags or over-the-top studs everywhere nonsense (pic related).

Jacket doesn't have internal pockets for phone/wallet/music device?
>>
>>15393625
I'm getting mine done at a tire place as opposed to a bike dealership so I'm going to do wheel removal myself. Just not sure how much I need to take off the wheels. I'm guessing just the brake disc so it doesn't get damaged.
>>
>>15393666
I'm also doing it at a tire place.
Just some guy working from a storage box, but I ride to his place and an hour later I can ride on with new tires.
Unless there is a Buell that needs its tires replaced like last time. Then I might have to wait two hours before my bike gets new tires.

I'm quite tempted to let them do it to be honest. I'll have to learn eventually though so I might as well give it a bash.

Lexmoto? Never heard of them. My 5 min. research says it's a Chinese brand and goes for 980 quid, which is really cheap for a 125cc scooter. Hey guys I have a little one on the way and I know it's going to be a while before I can get her on a bike but how old were you when you started? How old did you start your kids? I'm pretty much going to get her started on a PowerWheels as soon as she can reach the pegs. From there I was going to do a PW50 with training wheels. But I know it's up to how the kid feels about it all I just know with me riding I can probably get her interested in it at an early age

Think im finally gonna bite the bullet and take a Motorcycle Safety Training course before the end of summer, by the end of the year i want to buy my first bike (27th bday present to myself).

Would 5k be a decent budget?

This shop thats semi-local was recommended to me
http://eastbaymotorsports.com/Showroom/Pre-Owned-Inventory/Search/Condition/All?PriceHigh=5000

Im liking pic related,
Mind you im 5'9" 235lbs (fatty) and i plan to lose some weight.

How much should i invest in gear?

Once i get comfortable im going to start using it for commuting and gonna rig up a toolbox on the side for work tools

5 is the typical age for pw50 these days. I don't even have memories from that age so I can't remember if I liked it, but I continued racing into my late teens just because it was normal. I didn't even truly realize the goal was to win until I was like 8 years old, so don't be surprised if they don't "get it" and you have to "force" them to ride there will be an age when they decide out right if they want to or not, but it wont be at age 5. most 5 year olds will be scared to ride, but they will do it for your approval anyway. maybe projecting here, but that was my experience.

Thanks for the input I was guessing 4-6. I started riding around 7 and I always thought it was a late start. The lady and I live on an acre and change so she'll have room to putt around and get used to the controls. My dad rode motorbikes and street bikes so I always remember wanting one and finally I got one when I was 7. I'd ride that thing from the moment I got off school until it got dark and I did so many chores for gas money. I don't intend her to race track unless if things start moving that way. There's a lot of good riding where I live I just remember going out riding with my dad from a young age and I hope I can start that tradition with my new family

>>
>>15394058
Alright that's not a bad idea, I didn't even consider the kill switch. I was going to either put a throttle restrictor or a exhaust restrictor in too. I'm more inclined on the throttle one so I can give a little bit more as she gets more confident. The exhaust restrictor is just a large washer with a small hole that goes in between the exhaust pipe and the header pipe but it's either in or out. I refuse to let her ride an ATV though

It's because it used to be only PW and you had to wait till age 8 or so to move to the KX60/65.

But the KTM 50 and the Cobra 50, which are much better, came around and pushed the PW down to lower ages since the PW can't compete. In '97 or so they used to mix the KTM with the PW and it was a slaughter. A year later not a single kid at the track had a PW and thus it began.

Most kids will only be on a PW for as long as it takes them to learn the basics. After that it's a Cobra and then move up as height/weight allows.

Can you afford a new one? If so, just go to different dealerships and test-ride a couple of bikes and see what fits you best - there's no better way. That said, if you're really buying it for city riding only, get a scooter. They're way more practical and just as fast/fun (trust me on this), though you might have to deal with the stigma and a limited selection if you're American.
