Well it's a lot to think about, many factors will determine what app to use. Can't speak for all but what I want is something that's not linked to my phone number, has a group chat capability, allows the share of media across the group, allows to contact single users from the group chat.
>>
>>15376735
Yeah my buddy was at the team evasive tent, couple of other sonic bros won trifecta ecu tunes for 2 dollars lol. The MIKU GT86 was there too.

Narrowing it down, I/we need something that has mobility, since we already use 4chins for standard desktop comms, and security/encryption should be a higher priority if we start gaining traction/attention for being an organized crime syndicate (in the eyes of the law).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_instant_messaging_clients#Secure_messengers

Checked out app availability for these, and the ones that don't seem like garbage are (in no order):

1. ChatSecure
2. Line
3. Signal
4. Telegram
5. WhatsApp
6. Wickr
7. Wire

--- insecure ---

8. Kik

Tried testing all of these.

>ChatSecure
A lot of options available.

>Line
Requires phone number verification, with an option to log in to Facebook. Would not consider.

>Signal
Phone number verification. Not as bad as Line, though.

>Telegram
Breddy gud.

>WhatsApp
SMS verification.

>Wickr
Seems good, but not sure about group capability.

>Wire
Account created with phone number.

>Kik
Shoddy in some ways, but easy to make an account and a group.

Open to suggestions.
>>

And retain zello for bantz and light comms and when we are trying to get assembled for a meet. Sure, I'll start using Zello.

If we do a meet, it'll have to be sometime later this week. I'm going to be attempting to cook with my dad tomorrow, and I take the final part of my GED on Tuesday. Wednesday - Saturday I seem to be clear.

I know this is a bit selfish, but I have to pick up some things at Primary Arms in Pearland. If we did some form of meet I don't know if we'd be able to cruise through there or something. There's plenty of good places to eat along the way if we want lunch or dinner.
>>
>>15377358
Should we have a hou yt channel that trusted people can upload to? I dont think its smart to upload things to your personal account

>>
>>15378265
>>15378480
Yeah, I'm with Turbo Snail. Complaining the GT86 doesn't have enough power is like complaining the AE86 doesn't have enough power. It just isn't relevant.
>>
>>15378485
The difference is, with the AE86 it didn't have any pretentions about being fast, you looked at it, and you didn't expect it to be. The Toyobaru has some tryhard sporty styling that's misleading. There may be some subconscious expectations at play.
>>
>>15378480
>>15378485

i know the toyobaru isnt made for speed, but it still didnt seem worth the 20k. im sure any econobox with some suspension mods can be just as good or close to an 86. gonna test drive a 3.8 genesis coupe in a few days, it seems like a in between car compared to the 86 and mustang
>>
>>15378571
When I test drove the Genesis Coupe I never felt like I enjoyed it. Not nearly as much as almost everything else on the market.

Maybe because in the back of my head the word "Hyundai" was bouncing around.
>>
>>15378571
I love my slow as shit little sonic, it's a 21k dollarrydoo car but if you just wait a few years and buy one that was a rental or spare or something like i did, you can probably drive it off the lot for less than 14k. Any T-Shirt designs?

I'm not really sure what kinda layout should we want, as in small text small logo, or a have a huge logo on the front or back. I kinda like having a small logo and small text, makes it look more "professional" I guess, if you look at motor-sport mechanics they usually have those kinds. It will be cool if we wear the same shirts, especially if we go to events together and stuff.

>>
>>15379816
Perfect
Then we can just circle jerk
>>
>>15379688
We don't want a closed group or only people who were "the first ones". None of that shit. /hou/ consists of many type of breeds, we got people with various skills, together we can work on things, bring newer ideas whether good or bad. Any restriction might stop that from happening. I think the best thing that could happen is that when people from outside of 4chan realize how our mindset is, they will either join us or be left behind. Right now it's just about taking over this city, there are a few good clubs out there but most of them are quite generic that lack a purpose. For one thing I know, we will play an important role in the history of this city's car scene. This I promise to you my brethren.
>>
>>15379816
>>15380065
That's not what I meant, but I couldn't really find a way to clarify my wording, so I suppose it doesn't matter.

I agree with what was said, regardless.
>>
>>15380065
>>15376535
I think we're the only underground, grassroots automotive movement in the city with any real potential.
>>
>>15380098
I think you're vastly underestimating how many car clubs a city the size of Houston has.
>>
>>15380090
Oh, did you mean start making some cash from it? Perhaps create a business? When /hou/ becomes really big, we can start merchandising shit, create custom stuff, even small things for vehicles a bit like Non-Stop Tuning does. They sell T-Shirts, GoPros, Pulleys, Shift Knobs, and other car related things. In order for that to work, we will really need to up our game since we'll be then going against the big boys.

>>15380098
From what I can tell, most likely, I haven't seen an ambitious group to emerge and grow as quickly before, most of the car clubs in Houston are more about meet and greets but there is something special about us other than the autism.

>>15380107
The serious car clubs in Houston are either for the really rich or they are extremely closed.
>>
>>15380122
>there is something special about us other than the autism.
New slogan right there
>>
>>15380158
You got that right
>>
>>15380107
Quality, not quantity. As has been said, there's thousands of clubs out there, but none of them with any real motive or purpose. Normie forum clubs that just meet up to circlejerk about their single generation of model or a certain class of car aren't really of interest to me, and I know others that feel the same.

Of course there are public events like Cars and Coffee, Concours, big name shows for the spectator facet, and you have your standard track days, autocrosses, drag strips, and drift events for the participation facet, but there's a particular void somewhere between the two ends of the spectrum that I think we fill, which I can only readily compare to the likes of the Mid Night Club. It's like enthusiasm, elevated. We collectively enjoy and celebrate our subject of interest by actively engaging in it in the freest (monetarily; no one pays admission fees like at track events), and most open (no snooty club or car requirements) way possible.

In these ways, I think we differ from nearly all comparable ventures in a good way. Our goal is to become legend.

This club is pretty unique. It's purist in how you pretty much only have to like cars to join. Yea, the Japanese Sc300, GS400, s2k, 240sx, and other JDM cars give us more rep, but it's cool how we have many people such as myself with more daily driver cars that are welcomed as well. The group has a very diverse mix of car lovers and a diverse range of mechanical ability. I hope the club sticks to that simple criteria of only liking cars and you can fit right in. There's racers and cruisers but everyone can find a place to fit in. A lot of that is credit to the very dedicated members like Gs, SC, Dagumi, gti, and s2k

The plan is after /hou/ becomes into /tex/ we will expand to become /south/ then become /us/ then /na/ then the /west/ then we will become /world/ afterwards. This I promise to you my brethren. I feel like I/we are starting, and/or contributing to a street racing epidemic. I've driven every day through large chunks of the city for several years now, and only in the past couple of months have people other than me really been willing to rip it up on the streets, and with increasing frequency as of late.

Not sure what to make of it as of yet, but the excitement and electricity seems to be filling the air. Pressure building up for a revival or new renaissance of street wars.

And for once I feel part of it.

This is what I've been thinking so far. First we have to make our mark on the city's official list of groups. Meaning, to get our name going on Houston-Streets. We need to make an event that will happen on a fixed date and preferably at a fixed location either monthly or bi weekly, this will be a very normie tier event that will gain us some reputation. Once that is done our presence will spread across the city. I'll start up rumors on facebook groups and what not to get it kick start the process once we get our names on Houston-Streets. Also we all need to start going to events together and start representing ourselves as a proper crew. As of right now we are going by /hou/ but I do think we need to come up with a name that the majority of us agree on, there were some good ones mentioned but we have to try to come up with some more. Once something like that happens, other people who are not part of 4chan may want to join up with the crew. This is when things will start to change a bit, we will have a public name group and then a private name group which I think should consist of people only from 4chan to keep things organized or if we do want other people to join we'll look for people with skills that can help us expand the group much more. With the public group we can do so many sorts of things like merchandising, hosting events or heck even by sponsored by companies to sell their products or some shit. That is what i've been thinking so far which maybe too ahead but I have a feeling it won't be.

Also, I agree with everything you said, since, incidentally I've been thinking along some nearly identical lines. Even down to Houston-Streets.

My main concern is normifying the group (i.e; expanding outside of 4chan), even if it is a necessary evil/good if we wish to rage our dreams into the stratosphere. I just fear we'll eventually come across some folk who will stir group infighting and drama, and despite a few scuffles here and there on the board, I've yet to meet someone in /hou/ I had a problem with. I like that sense of family, because we all come from the same place and generally have the same humor and there's a general mutual understanding. I don't know if I'm making sense.

I get what you mean, that's why I mentioned having a public and private group. Even though we are having new people show up every meet, eventually that will stop and we might not get more people from 4chan. This is what the private group becomes, this will basically consist of people who will be like family who have a genuine interest with similar mentality. I think the private group should have a name for it's own. Alternatively we can expand by having regional or state meets, that will also help in expanding but it will be hard to manage. The best way to do such a thing is a few /hou/ people travel to a certain state or city, meet up with a few dedicated channers and help them develop a group there. Once that is done we can have a extremely large meetup twice or once a year which may be either in state or region wise. Everybody could chip in, get an event going on, whether it be racing, drifting, rallying, you name it. Now having a public group is also important for various reasons such as spreading the name, making money, hosting events, getting sponsors and who knows what else. The things I mentioned are much easier to do when there is a large amount of people and having a extremely large group, with that being said you're bound to get some attention from the financial district if you're trying to host a large event or something. Of course, you are right about people stirring up drama and infighting, but if all that is part of the public group, it's irrelevant because the private group has already been formed.

There is a lot to think about and I'm glad everyone is pitching ideas, even though some might see it as thinking way far, but hey that's how you get things rolling.
>>
>>15385497
maybe it can be like freemasonry where /hou/ can have normies and channers but only the channers know that they are part of the real thing and keep the channers oblivious

(2/2)

Almost two years ago I was helping a friend out selling some merchandise for his company at the Lonestar Drift event at GGP and got to talk to the owner of NST(Non Stop Tuning). He mentioned how he started so small and all by himself, but kept pushing his products through facebook and other social media. He said went to almost every single large car event he could and that selling simple auto items really attracted customers. That's what I'm thinking with /hou/, the best way to expand and make people aware of us is by going to events and forcing things into social media. So basically what I'm trying to say is that having a public group is extremely important if we want to do certain things and become official. There is no need to limit ourselves to 4chan, there is so much potential in /hou/, I hope people understand that. We could also do something as >>15385515 mentioned which is basically like having a private group. Before I drift into other thoughts and lose the point of these posts I'll just say this, there are a lot of big things that can be done with a few dedicated people, we all have various skills in many things it will be sad to see this flow of energy be wasted.

If you guys are thinking about merch, it's worth going to /k/ to ask for some pointers. The /k/ommandostore is pretty legit. They did a period correct reproduction of Rhodesian camouflage pretty much just because they could.
https://kommandostore.com/

Also, even if it's counterintuitive, you kind of want a little drama and infighting. Keeps things interesting for new people. Integrating new personalities into something that seems very established can be hard. It's less intimidating if the newcomer feels like things are still forming. It's a lot more fun if things seem less planned, more impromptu. But yeah, for what my opinion is worth, 4chan has a low ceiling.

With that said, I don't know what the fuck is going on.

Alright so if we do a group buy of 20 items it will cost us around $15 for each T-Shirt (not sure if that is with or without tax), you don't have to pay to one person you can actually pay separately online however, all the T-Shirts will be shipped to one address. One of the factors is Quality and I have no idea whether the quality of T-Shirts will be good or whether the sticker will stay for long. Also, I'll need a need count for T-Shirt sizes.

So we kind of have opposite problems in regards to the Galaxie and SC.

With the SC, we're eager to buy it, but the seller is regularly unavailable and hard to reach, despite showing up to the car twice and announcing we had the cash ready.

With the Galaxie, we have an eager seller, but we as buyers are taking a while to get over there. It may already be sold.

But if anyone thinks they can try to get ahold of the SC seller, his number is (832) 721-4729.

I really like older cars pre 2000 that seem to have less computers and such. I don't know, I'm crazy but I feel like you can connect more with the car that way.

That's exactly what I would make! This movie pretty much changed my life when I was a kid. Mom and Dad popped it in and I think I wore down the VHS in no time.

I would make the herbie with the GT radials

Some say you can still hear his bitterness as he redlines at 80 mph.

You misunderstand. We actually had a guy with a Beetle try and join up. He missed the second meet departing from the meet location by 15 minutes, and he hasn't been seen in the threads since.

But making a Herbie replica is a worthy endeavor. Why not do it? You can buy a good quality Bug for like 5 grand here in Texas.
