Just got back from a 3 week European vacation. I'm an American but I've always been a European car fan, I was super excited to see old Healys and Triumphs in England, Alfas and Lancias in Italy, and of course the new stuff too like Mclaren, Ferrari, etc. Guess what: NOBODY drives cars like this in Europe. EVERYWHERE I went all I see was shitty little hatchbacks, crossovers, and a "nice" car would be a 3 series diesel. I saw a single cool car in England, a Gallardo... with a plate from the middle east. I've been reading these posts from Europeans on /o/ for years implying everyone there is rich and drives 7 series and S classes, yet driving through a rich area in Germany it was nothing but generic shitboxes. What a joke, I actually came back to the US with an appreciation for ricer teenagers with fartcan Civics, at least they are participating in the hobby in some way. Next time a European poster tries to vaguely imply he has a nice car (looking back it's odd, I've never seen a bread on hood or timestamp of an enthusiast type car from a European poster) remember this thread, chances are he drives a Seat or Skoda or some piece of shit like that.
>>
>>15376019
>Europeans are poor and have no hobbies
No shit. That's what happens when you live in socialism.

The also live in shitty little brick row housing that would be considered federal welfare housing in the US. "Muh brick".

I don't even read European posts. It's basically the third world.
>>
>>15376019
It took you that long to realize the anti-American shitposting was just from jealous, sour grapes eurocucks?
>>

I've been saying that for years. Just watch Top Gear when they are driving around nicer suburbs in the UK. It is a ton of shitty little silver hatchbacks in the background.

Even if you live in a shitty area in the US, you will see a handful of Mustangs and Camaros when you take a short drive to work.
>>
>I've been reading these posts from Europeans on /o/ for years implying everyone there is rich
No, you didn't.
>>
>>15376109
That's because even Mustangs and Camaros are cheap, disposable shitboxes in the US. The only way Detroit can even stay afloat is by shitting out bargain bin turds for all the poorfags who didn't make it but want to look like they did.

>>

Also no space to pile up old shit. European cars at the end of their European life usually wander to the slav realm or to Africa because it's simply the easier way to handle it. Americans just dump them on a yard in the middle of nowhere until someone digs them back up 40 years later.
>>
>>15376120
Camaros/Mustangs are relatively cheap but nowadays they are serious performance cars. Even the lower spec versions are able to embarrass (or sometimes completely shit on) European cars with twice the price. You can argue about quality but that just means you're looking for a car to use as an appliance or a tool.

>>
>>15376166
Where in the US are there a bunch of NAs?
In Texas I think I've only ever seen a couple of NAs in person, NBs are relatively common, there's a few NCs (and they're even uglier in real life than in the photos), and I have yet to see an ND.
>>
>>15376163
A new M3/M4 isn't better than a new Camaro SS or ATS-V for instance. In most measurable aspects, the GM cars do better.

Because our infrastructure and resource demand would collapse if we all drove around all the time like Americans do. According to my own calculations German roads are already as much frequented as American roads per mile (with fewer lanes) even though we only drive half as much a year as they do. Imagine double the traffic.

Even I as a car enthusiast am annoyed by how stubbornly obsessed with cars /o/ is.

Cars aren't the solution to all our problems, life can exist without cars, people without cars aren't automatically failures, in fact it's impossible for the entire world to become as car based as the US. They're just a nice hobby to some and a burdening necessity to others, and the US are the global exception in car based infrastructure, not the standard, get over it.
>>
>>15376019
Yuro here, I felt kind of similar about going on vacation to Japan. It was just Toyota shitboxes everywhere.

Anyway I saw a Lancia earlier today so your argument is invalid

>>
>>15376276
>implying car meets don't exist everywhere
>>
...But it's better.

I just got back from my euro vacation too and I was amazed. The transportation infrastructure is better than the US.
People only drive a car if they absolutely need it.
Even then everyone drives 1.0 liter hatches because that's all a person really needs.
Roads are tight as fuck so everyone is focused on driving not fucking texting or music or makeup or whatever
>>
>>15376295

I did not imply that. I said that not everyone is willing to use his classic or enthuasiast car in everyday use and mostly will just take it for drives on weekends or take it to car meets. Thus i used the picture from a car meet to imply that these car are mostly shown off there.
>>
>>15376265
It's funny you say that because most rural dwellers I know drive easter eggs fuel sippers in an effort to save money on their commutes to work. Which is also ass backwards imo. If you're spending long stints commuting, luxury is the only way to go.

In America we love the freedom afforded by having a car, the ability to drive anywhere in the country quickly and efficiently on our sweet interstate freeways. Have fun rubbing up aganist sweaty immigrants and trying to get work done with your transit vans and hatchbacks.

Have fun being forced to drive an hour each way because you wouldn't even have been able to find work otherwise thanks to urban planning that relies entirely on cars, with a 65 mph general speed limit on roads that are absolutely falling apart. American roads are horrid, you only think they're good because Canadian and Mexican roads are even worse. I can take my car and drive wherever I want in Europe, too, but that doesn't make driving everywhere and planning your settlements around cars a smart thing to do.

And pride doesn't make shitty things better, it only distorts your image of shitty things.

Should have come to Switzerland instead of the UK. Everybody knows that taxes in the UK are prohibitively high for most people to own "nice" cars. Here in Switzerland my 136 hp 2.2L Camry is way below the average (new cars sold 2015 did average some 170 hp). M-series BMWs are very common, can't go a day without seeing one... and a sunny sunday is getting rather out of hand in certain areas and the mountain passes.

There's a reason people like to call us mountain jews.

One of my best friends is 38, has never had a drivers license, and lived in SF his whole life. Do I think he is an "inferior person"? No. You know what he doesn't do? Go to auto imageboards and tell people that they should be less obsessed with cars. This is the real divide between Americans and Europeans. Americans drive if they want, or don't if they don't want, and don't care what other people do. Europeans complain about what people in other countries do, tell them they should do it differently, complain about people being passionate about a hobby on a site for people that are passionate about a hobby to discuss it, and then have an inferiority complex if anyone suggests their complaints are unfounded.

You'd be better off with a scooter or small motorcycle. You don't need a car.

Also most american cities are not planned around cars, most were established many years ago so while the interstate and highway infrastructure have improved there isn't much improvement to be made in the cities themselves.

It's not our fault that Americans are obsessed with showing off their entire wealth (or sometimes more when you're talking to Longpost Guy about his ridiculous trade-in stories) through their cars. Flaunting wealth is far less common in Europe and our millionaires have no issues daily driving E-Classes and the like because they're the most practical option.

Also the wealth disparity is bigger in the US, which means that for every cunt showing off in a supercar there's a number of people living in utter poverty and usually contributing to your horrid crime rates compared to western Europe.

European cars that sell better in the US. I don't think most Yuros realize that those companies don't sell the real low end cars in the US like an S350 or whatever the hell they make. Up until recently, a 328i was the lowest 3 Series that you could buy in the US.

Britcuckistan is the worst by far as far as the ratio of exciting cars to people who talk about how shitty American cars are. I'm sure there are a few pockets of Yurop where it probably isn't quite so bad. But just by opening your eyes and looking around the two different areas of the world, you will quickly realize that most of Yurop has an awful car culture despite the fact that the residents go on about how terrible American cars are and how the automobiles they manufacture are so much better.

And there are many reasons behind why the car culture is shitty. Taxes, fuel prices, cramped cities, short commutes. But I have yet to find a reason for the othet half of the problem, which is why Yuros talk so much shit about Burger cars and driving culture when theirs is so much worse. Is it jealousy? That would be my guess.

And this is why OP made this thread after spending some time in the UK and coming back to the US.

Americans constantly shut post about Europe

There are shitboxes on both sides we can see that from the pic posted and from being having been there

There's that word again

>>
>>15381293
There is no arguing against the fact that it is cheaper and easier to be a car enthusiast in a country where modifications are allowed, way less taxation occurs and fuel costs 1/3 of what it does here. You are in denial, wake up so we can change how things are here in eurostan

I wish that was true
>>
>>15381443
Of course it's going to be easier and cheaper to be a car enthusiast in a country that's almost entirely built around cars. Car enthusiasm is the standard thing to do in the US. Try being a car enthusiast in Europe and see if you can do a better job at it than us.
>>
>>15380817
NL price is after sales tax. For a correct comparison the NL price should read 1.32€/L and $5.57/gal.
>>
>>15381443
>its easier to be an enthusiast
>so we like cars more than you guys

no, we like cars no amount of taxation and regulation or "car culture" will ever change that
Its such a stupid argument "we like cars more than you"

ugh

Brookfield actually.

Apparently this guy comes in often and he's a doctor. Asian guy in a blue suit. I see all sorts of typically richfag cars there, I'd say on average there are more Audis than Toyotas. I even saw one of those Porsche Cayennes.

I also saw a C7 Corvette the other day there too with some super tall driver. Might have been a Bucks player.

I'll take pics of interesting cars in the parking lot next time I go.

A Camry or an Accord is a lot better than a little 1.1l Fiat diesel.

Fuck off euroturd.
>>
>>15376019
Lol I saw more ford focuses in Europe than I did in the states. Their minivans were manual though so that was sorta interesting.

I'm sure the US price was also after tax.

>"For a correct comparison the NL price should read 1.32€/L and $5.57/gal."
>Let's assume we live in fairly tale world where no one pays for taxes

Why would a 'correct' comparison not take tax into account? As if it doesn't get charged or something?

No one said anything about enthusiasts liking cars less or more, but the general public would much rather 'save the world' while driving a 1.0L shitbox than drive a proper car. In murica the 3.5L ecoboost is being praised/shilled, in Europe the 1.0 ecoboost was praised beyond reason. I don't know how to change that, as the EU leader said, it is not a democracy, not sure that would matter anyway.
While Europe is indeed not a single country yet, it is not as if the individual nations are allowed to decide anything significant anyway. There is Europol and they are trying to make a EU army, what more is needed for Europe to be referred to as a single place? Except for Britain of course :^)

Yeah, you're just shitposting. You see nice cars all the time around here in South London. Yeah, there's shitboxes a plenty but you see the equivalent in the US. When I lived over in the US, you barely ever saw nice cars. Just the American equivalent of cheap hatchbacks.

The very definition of bell distributions is that the majority of data points is settled near the average. It's impossible for the majority of people or even a lot of people to move away from the average because the average moves with them. Nevermind that we're in an anime figurine painting forum here, not the Wall Street cafeteria. Good for you if you can reasonably or unreasonably claim that you're above average on the internet, but the same isn't true for the majority of posters.

It also has a comfier interior, more cargo space, and nicer features than most Euro shitboxes. I'm not really sure what your point is.

Wrong, same cheap shit as in our shitboxes, what else would you expect at such bargain bin prices?
>more cargo space
Wrong because it's sedan shaped, a shorter hatchback has the same cargo volume to the roof.
>nicer features
What car doesn't have climate control nowadays?

The answer is simple OP
Fuel in Europe is 1,5€/L
Fuel in the US is 2$/gallon
1€=1,1$
1gallon=4L
>>
>>15382313
great except we have cars like that too cars too and are very common

Only difference is the American Accord is worse

>American cars are so shit the euro Accord was rebranded and sold over there as a "premium car"
