This could get 12,000lbs of fuck really quick. 3 chains and 3 straps is about the best I could do, but it never looked quite upright. We'll see how it looks in the crane bay tomorrow.

Banded 15k 20" coils behind it should do just fine doing their thing, even with daylight between the blocks.

8 hours of loading.
All pallets on right side of trailer.
Gaps between pallets.
Gap to left wall.
Single layer wrapping.
Random boxes just chilling on top of tall stacks.

Fuck me but I wanted to just make them reload everything and keep paying me detention.
They let me sign SLC though so...whatever.

Ended up missing 201 cases at delivery.

So on top of everything else they forgot a couple fucking pallets.

>SLC
>no STC
You're going to get burned on that one day.
>>
>>15237284
You have that backwards.
>SLC
Shipper load count.
>STC
Said to contain.

SLC means shipper is responsible for all product counts.

STC means you verified the case or pallet count, but could not verify what the cases or pallets contained.

There's also NAOD not allowed on dock, meaning you weren't even allowed to be oresent to count the product.

Best situation is PL&S, or "1 PLST"

So yesterday morning, my bro-tier dispatcher calls and starts off with "...you don't HAVE to accept this dispatch but here are the details..."
>>del in Austell, GA at a 24/7 facility
>>pickup in braselton, GA (reefer load)
>>del appt and pickup appt info has been """"confirmed""""

Having only driven thru ATL between the hours of 0200 - 0500 and never having actually stopped/delivered/picked up from here, I thought "what could go wrong?"

>>pre-plan trip to get to receiver at 0700 but end up there at 0845 thanks to Atlanta traffic
>>only forklift dude here is on lunch at 0900 because his shift starts at 0400 so he can get to work reliably before rush hour traffic
>>rest of the forklift dudes start at 1100
>>headed for pickup and get a call from dispatch saying "shipper is delaying shipment because their supplier dudes got to work late and load isn't ready yet"
>>load delayed till Monday because their supplier won't make it to warehouse in time to process customs paperwork
>>get to the Pilot in Atlanta and its full at 1045AM

All my problems can basically be attributed to >>because Atlanta traffic

I'm now chilling at an on-ramp off i-85 trying to look like I'm doing some emergency paperwork so cops won't ticket my ass

I honestly wonder how you elog bros handle shit if you're blessed with a shitty dispatch team.
>>
>>15238804

I'm kinda anticipating dispatch just shrugging their shoulders and asking if I mind resetting here and picking up the reefer load on Monday and so, I'm pointed towards the pickup location. Prolly wait for an hour or so until I start to find long term parking.

So lo and behold, reefer load is what I'm waiting for. Dispatch asked me to reset here and pickup on Monday morning.

Pops was having two of his college era buddies fly in from cali and I was gonna be the driver for them for some Sunday reunion thing. Having to miss that is not cool so a quick call to the owner and:
>>he called the shipper himself and was able to move up pickup to tomorrow (Sat) morning
>>he's splitting up a team and having one of those drivers come help me ensure I make it back home in time

I used to truckerfag for about 6 months. I remember anywhere I parked there was a 50/50 chance lot lizards would bang on my cab door the entire fucking night and I couldn't get any sleep whatsoever.

I kinda loosing my mind, I would wear ear plugs at night when I stopped so I did'nt hav to woken up, which turned into wearing ear-plugs 24/7 Also wearing pajamas 24/7. I once wore the same set of T-shirt, gymshorts and hoodie for 3 weeks straight. I changed my underwear once those 3 weeks because I somehow shit myself, for gas-station burrito related reasons I think. Also I'd collect any neat looking rocks or bits or wire whenever I stopped. I started to talk aloud back to the audiobooks I played.

Trucking is kinda shitty, tbqh.

That T/A just south of the city on I-75 fucking sucks. I stopped there a handful of times driving to and from Chicago and there is some real trash.

Anybody here ever do the 595 Truck Stop in Ft. Lauderdale? It's always packed with trucks but it seems strange, it's not right off the exit ramp in the middle of nowhere like most truck stops. But around here, only other truck stops would be the Shells on the Turnpike.

Wut brand tire?

I've had a tire blow out on me once. I always listen to sports talk radio and the traffic jam caused by the tire shreds made the AM traffic update. Luckily I pulled the truck onto the shoulder on an off-ramp so couldn't be seen on the highway.

Last flat tire I had (on the truck), I continued to drive to another 3 stops while waiting for the guy to come fix it.

I wouldn't go 75 on a retread. They hate the heat, and that's probably why your having so many problems. Either try to go a little slower or take breaks to let the tires cool down a little and you should have less of a problem.

Also, telling your boss he's a cheap prick for using retreads is a good idea too.

>>15241066
>They hate the heat
this is really the issue, once the tire temperatures get up into the 200's, the adhesives all start coming apart.

I raced in a claimer car series that used as their spec tire a dirt-cheap recap slick that a local shop was peddling. The shop that did the recapping slapped a sticker on every one that said "MAX TIRE TEMP 220º" or something. Racers with tire pryometers would see them hit that at the end of a long main event for the saturday night races.

Since they were DOT recaps, a couple local road-racing teams figured out that they made a great technically-legal slick for a DOT-required class, but the tire temps were getting well over 240º. So far nothing disastrous had happened, so they tried to use them in a 12 hour enduro. They started blowing up about 4 hours in.

You couldnt go off duty at all? Also what does loseleaf mean?
>>

You still need the full 10hrs for the reset to get a fresh 14. If he started at 6am, tire blew at 2pm, that 14 is still going til 8pm. If he went off-duty at 2pm when it blew, he would have to wait to midnight to get a fresh 14hrs.

I think.

Looseleaf is paper logs, no e-log bullshit or even the carbon copies in the book.

If you're talking about tractors, FedEx doesn't own any (they're all leased) and UPS destroys most of theirs. If you're asking about the bread vans call the LKQ heavy truck division in Toledo, OH M-F 9am-3pm. They sell whole UPS units resprayed in primer.

RVs are so specialized that once you cobble together your pleb dwelling in a breadvan you won't have any more available floorspace compared to a professionally engineered and constructed RV.

Illegal depending on which state you're in. All it takes is one random DOT inspection and you're in jail.

It could possibly work if you're local and only drive in states where it's legal.

But if you're OTR or drive for a company has a policy specifically banning them, then you're a retard to even try this.
>>
>>15243815
I have my cpl from Michigan and carry my m&p shield all the time. Just check the laws for the states youre going through. If your cpl is valid then it doesnt matter.

Weight distribution. Spread axles are good for 20k lbs per axle here in 'Murica. Owner/Ops will generally opt for a lift axle on one of those - the suspension can lift the tires off the ground so you're not dragging tires when you make a sharp turn. Roehl uses spread axles but for some reason no lift axle option so that middle axle eats tires.

>Illegal depending on which state you're in
even in the most restrictive US states (read: California), it's still OK to have it so long as it's unloaded and stowed. Worst case scenario, stow it when you get to state line and you can still legally take it with you on the truck, you just can't take it out.

The difficulty is with all the companies. Most trucking companies ban guns from company owned trucks, and employees from carrying them on the clock. Shippers and receivers have the right to ban them from their properties as well, and some do.

As a trucker, you spend your life living on/in other people's private property, and as such give up a lot of freedom to various business owners.

>>15244879
Super singles were supposed to be these great new things that were going to replace all duals, reduce replacement costs, and give everyone awesome gas mileage all the time.

It didn't quite work out that way, but on certain fleets they're cheaper to operate. Someone who posts here has a 6x2 tractor with super single drives, and says the drive tires get absolutely battered.

>>15245069
>thoughts on these newfangled NASCAR wings
they aren't working out for the companies that have been running them. The economy advantage just isn't significant, and they get damaged easily/often. Skirts and such seem to provide a much bigger aerodynamic advantage for less money.

HA

No. I work at a shop and those things cost US $1K for a good tire. Plus, when you blow one you have to stop immediately or you'll fuck the rim, and because every single trailer manufacturer decided to be special, lots have different offsets and shit, so nobody stocks them.

You can easily spend 6 hours on the side of the road before a tire guy shows up if you do it right.

Coffin is even less than that. It's like the side cargo boxes on trucks, you have to get out and crawl into it, and it's literally like a coffin. You can only lay in it.
>>15244879
Those are super singles. I've been told they're less expensive than a set of duallies, and they offer lower rolling resistance, meaning you can possibly get better fuel economy with a full set on the truck and trailer. That's where the benefits end. They're terrible on any surface that isn't dry pavement, and if one blows, you don't have a second tire there to hold it up while you limp to the nearest tire shop. You have to stop and wait for roadside repair, because if you try to drive it, you're likely to drag the wheel (the metal part) on the pavement, ruining it.

Bruh you know better than that. I know you can afford a decent Bluetooth headset.
>>
>>15246258
I have Bluetooth through the trucks dash but ppl sometimes complain about echoes. Ironic how chatting is objectively safer than shitposting.
He used it to pull me over for an inspection. He said he wasn't going to find anything on my truck cause it's clean.
Than wrote it as a footnote on a repair order. No fine, no points.
>>
>>15246253
Honestly there was like a 90/10 he would of spied me pulling the monkey. The fines would if been ridiculous could you imagine? Driver was operating 2 pieces of heavy equipment simultaneously.

Yeah I had to burn a bit of time before an appointment, stopped in three of them before finding a open space. Then I get to the receiver and find out they're closed until Monday....

I've seen lots of trailers with these tail devices on. Yet I have yet to see one actually deployed. They are always folded up.

How do you guys feel about getting paid by the mile? On average how many hours out of your week do you sit unloading and loading versus driving? I just got back last night from my 70 hour week and 19 of those hours were spent loading and unloading. I think I'm just going to have to start putting some of my loading/unloading time as off duty so I can get a little bit more driving in. I realize that it's not legal to do so, technically, but my boss apparently doesn't give a shit as long as your log ends up legal when you turn it in. Some of the guys that I work with will end up running ahead of their logs just to make appointments, and then wait for it to catch up before they fuel or whatever. As long as you make the boss money, right....
>>
>>15246484
Just log it as sleeper berth and go fap, shitpost, sleep, whatever.

>>15246484
You only have to show 30 minutes on duty for load/unloading.

I'm thinking about converting a used box trailer into a RV to live out of, it should be a relatively simple project. Used trailers look like they go for $2-6k, basic furnishings and some reinforcements would be a extra $4k or so.
For shits and giggles, how long does a typical reefer trailer run for before running out of fuel? I've seem trailers at restaurants left running for days at a time it seems.

>Michigan 11 years ago
What, is Michigan the only solid land left in the entire world? Did you hit your head on something and spend the last decade in a coma? Did every community college nationwide pack it in the moment you got your CDL? You're allowed to bitch when you LITERALLY, as in 110% have
no
other
choice.

Until then, you sound exactly like a whiny child, one who lacks the self-control to save up for a life that doesn't suck so hard. Get it together, man. Get a degree (or a trade), move somewhere that isn't a hole, and quit screaming about how "the thug life chose me" on an American ripoff of a Japanese imageboard.

What part of homeless and jobless didnt you understand? Where was i supposed to find the money to do that? Michigan works had a program at the shelter i was at (robert j delonis center in ann arbor) where they would help me get my cdl. They paid for the schooling, motel, and have me money for food/laundry while i was there. Before that i was working in a factory. Ive done my time in those prisons. Never again. Yeah i may be fat and have a bad attitude. But i still get to see the sun during my regular day. The only trade off is having to deal with fucktards like you on the road, at a shipper/receiver or on here. So, since im home and dont need to deal with you, or anyone like you until monday, take your shitty fucking opinions and shove them up your trap loving ass.

ok guys, I dont drive a truck but I fucking hate my job with a passion.
I just generally dont want to deal with people anymore, i just want some fucking quite.

After a few 7-8 hour (double for drive home) solo road trips of just hopping on the highway, hitting the cruise control, putting on the radio, and just spacing out till I hit my destination, I realized I kinda like this.
Up until the first road trip I seldom drove more than 30 minutes at a time, but I've found I'm in a sort of calm I dont usualy get unless im asleep when I go on these drives.

...Should I go for a CDL?

That was eleven years ago, friend. Eleven. It's time to move on. It's time to let go of your cdl, and your bitterness with it, and find a life you can be happy about. I understand how you feel, I really do. It sucks to be in a dead end, and have nothing better to do with yourself than shitposting on 4chan. It gets better though. You know this because your life got better eleven years ago. It can get better again. Like I said, take night or online classes, and work towards something you can sell yourself with. The whole world's open, and you can take a job wherever you want. If you don't like Michigan, build up some cash and move. This is your life, man. You're living it right now, as you read this. If you're living the life you are now, it's because you're choosing to, right now. You could be shitposting from a cabin in the Ozarks if you want. You have to have the courage to go for it, though. I believe in you, man. Just like we all believe in Whiney-Kun.
