http://www.sltrib.com/news/3984612-155/insurance-company-sues-scouts-over-fatal

>An insurance company is suing the Boy Scouts of America over a motorcycle that was damaged in a fatal wreck caused by a Fruit Heights troop that felled a tree onto State Road 12 in 2014 in Garfield County.

>The troop of boys ages 14 through 17 had obtained a permit to cut and gather firewood Oct. 11, 2014, between Torrey and Boulder when two boys cut down a tree that landed on SR-12, in the path of a motorcyclist.

>Edgar Riecke, 69, of Durango, Colo., died after his motorcycle struck the tree.

swapped my shitty stock carb for another stock carb. Felt a lot better off idle, and didn't flood when I did dank wheelies. But it sputters and cuts out at high RPM and at WOT. I think I need to go down a few sizes on the main jet and possibly a different needle, since the seller said he jetted it for a DRZ with nig exhaust

I need advice /dbt/
I currently ride a cbr600rr on my 60 mile round trip commute most days of the week, I love the bike, but I end up cruising at 9000rpm in 6th gear to be able to hold 100mph it feels like the bike is screaming.

Would I be better off with something like an Fz1? I know it would be more comfortable but will it be able to hold 100mph for 30 minutes without feeling like it's killing my engine?
>>

more so than your cbr.
Sportsbike are not geared or powered for holding constant speeds, they are geared and powered for acceleration.
You are basically asking if a bike designed for motorway commuting will be better for motorway commuting than a bike designed for racing, which makes you a fucking retard, and i don't know why i am even responding to such a fucking dumb question.

I just rode over 700 miles constantly fluctuating between 85 mph and 120 on muh vtwin ktm.

the ability of a bike to be capable of sustained high rev is pretty important. Though in 6 gear at 100mph the ktm is around 6k even though it isn't a relatively high revving engine

do you measure while hitting the starter?

or did you have to take the carbs off to get the hoses on, and then put them back on for the test?

Duccati, Triumph, MotoGuzzi, and now Yamaha have production scramblers /dbt/. Are any of them actually worth taking off road or are they just hipster bait?

your license will probably be suspended. yes they can suspend it even if you dont have one.

i dont know it doesnt really matter anyway, just go to court.

No starter yet. I replaced the float needles so the carb was away from the bike.

2bh once the hoses are installed i think you can shove the rubber boots in there once youre doje syncing, but installing the hoses with the carb on would be tough. Not impossible, but kind of a bitch job.

I've removed the solenoid and a bunch of crap and even then its tight down there

I'm MV Anon. I'm guessing a wire on the harness that goes from my tail section to my headlight projector arced and shorted out a sensor or a relay (most likely the latter) so now I don't have a tacho or radiator fans.

I'm sick of fucking with the thing so I'm just gonna make a shop deal with it.

Hey guys, complete newby here as well as to biking so please don't kill me.

I have a few questions regarding bikes and stuff:
1. When is the best time to get my license? I would like to use it abroad in February so I was thinking of doing it in September or October so I don't have to when it's freezing cold outside. Also if there are any German/Austrian people here, can you explain the difference between the different A licenses and what kind of bikes I could right with those?

2. I want to mostly just take weekend trips, maybe combined with some camping gear. How do you normally transport things on a bike?

3. I had some people telling me that biking is disproportionately more dangerous than driving a car. Is this true? (don't have a driver's license for those either but still)

Thanks guys, if I'm told to kill myself I will of course do so
>>
>>15233427
>2. I want to mostly just take weekend trips, maybe combined with some camping gear. How do you normally transport things on a bike?
Hard luggage if you have money, bungee cordscif you don't, hotels if you have lots of money.

>3. I had some people telling me that biking is disproportionately more dangerous than driving a car. Is this true? (don't have a driver's license for those either but still)
Yes, but the most fun things in life are dangerous. No one ever got a thrill from eating well cooked broccoli.

>>

I can't answer number 1

2) If I'm camping I pack everything into a good hiking backpack and strap it to the bike somehow.
3) Yes, it is, but that's life.
You can mitigate the danger of motorcycling by being safety minded, never riding drunk (AT ALL. EVER) and not speeding.

Ride like everyone's trying to kill you and you'll be a lot safer.

This doesn't sound too good. I wanted my first bike to be simple and maintenance free, at least for this summer. I can wrench but don't have a proper place yet.

So what should i look out for if i decide to get one? Any good alternatives?

On a side note, my helmet has fully removable cheekpads, but the liner seems to detach only at the back of the head. What purpose does this even serve? How would it be any better to wash compared to simply showering the whole helmet? Pic. related. It seems to be glued under the Styrofoam near visor.

Almost every bike has hard luggage available for it from the original manufacturer or a third party. Givi is probably the most prolific third party producer and their stuff is pretty damn good. The big advantage of buying third party is that you can transfer your luggage to a new bike by only buying a new frame. By hotels, I meant that if you have the money, you can cut down on luggage requirements by sleeping in hotels or glamping. I carry so much camera gear with me that I'd have to put a tent on the pillion seat.

>>15233559
>So what should i look out for if i decide to get one? Any good alternatives?

Do you want a Sumo styled bike or just a nice naked? How about the Honda CB650F if it's the latter?

As for washing your helmet liner, if it's glued in, you're probably better off with a foaming cleaner like the one Muc Off makes than using water.

every Europe could explain you A / A2

but here we are now
A2 means 35kW limit, and with new regulations if you don't make your license before soon the base bike has to have not more than 90 ps

A means unlimited kW/Kilo while with A2 it has to be a maximum of 0.2 kW per kg

Also, since he doesn't even have B (car license), A1 might be relevant to him as well (125cc / 11kw limit, can be had from age of 16).

As for timing, i'd be more worried about any limits your driving school and local authority has. For us there are no exams from october to april. So starting in september you might not make it in time.

But generally i'd avoid getting A2 and just got B and rode 125cc if you're under 24 years and get the unrestricted A when you're old enough. Makes no sense doing basically the same exam and courses twice.

Has anyone from germany by any chance tried the cornering training course offered by the ADAC on the Nürburgring
>>
>>15233721
Must be different where you're at then. Here for A/A2 without B you basically have to do the whole B course (~50 mandatory theory and ~10 driving lessons). With B it's just 3 lectures and 10 driving lessons (if you learn fast).

Especially since you're almost 23 with B you could drive A1 vehicles till you're 24 and then just get the extra course.

I mean if you were younger you could think that it's cheaper to get just bike driving lessons for now, but you'll want to do unrestricted A anyway, so you'll have to take the mandatory lessons anyway and in the end it would cost the same.

pretty good on fuel, but has to go WOT ever where to even just keep the flow with traffic. don't expect to go faster than 100 km/h anytime
> A2
easy to ride since a power restrictions but no CC restrictions, various bikes available while in A1 everything is a 1 cyl 4 stroke (talking about new bikes obviously) in A2 you have a wide range

A stands for Absolute madman, no power or weight limit can stop you, expect to ride 270 kmh easily if you want to. obviously given you have a bike capable of such speed.
you'll win any drag race on the road, no matter if against a fucking unimog or an Audi RS8 or whatever you'll find on the street.
