Hi, /dbt/, I currently own a Yamaha V-Star 650 and I am looking to upgrade to something more sporty. I really like the Triumph Daytona 675 or the Street Triple.
Are these good bikes? I don't plan on doing anything crazy with them and for the most part they will be used to get me from point A to point B.

>>

It's just a few coated wires and a 12v cigarette lighter mount. They can have caps on them. If you're cheap use a plastic bag around everything

Nah, but as a little plinky I wouldn't mind getting a 5" target p22. At like $0.08 a round it's not bad at all.

Yeah, it wouldn't ever shoot up... Just lift under throttle and go down on it's own fairly quickly (except the literbikes)

My fastest laps were shortshifting before the crest, leaving the front on the ground, and turning in earlier to the next turn (There was an instant right turn if you did wheelie you'd have to bring it down before you turned in)

>but since the camera guy was at that corner for a session I wanted to get some lift pics
>>
What steps are you fags taking to get your dream bikeu
>>
>>15216407
Ok I'll try that. I was practicing wheelies on my KTM and had enough control that I was ready to use the rear brake, but I needed to adjust the pedal up to find it better. The Daytona will take a little more forethought since I'm not used to even touching it, so I don't cover it

Also assuming your Daytona acts the same as mine and you're talking about the wheelie that comes around 10-11 grand in 1st that'll go up about a foot then come down on its own when you shift to second. But mine's bone stock so take that with a grain of salt.

Shilling EBR so they'll still be around when I get the money to buy a brand new bike.
>>
>>15216466
sport bikes can really only barely power wheelie in first? I always assumed they would pull up like mad, but I suppose they're geared a lot taller than my bike, and also designed to keep the front down on throttle
>>
>>15216396
a car puts out significantly more than 12 volts when it's running

i've seen my truck around 18
>>
>>15216480
so do bikes. Most electronics work just as well with 20 volts as they do with 12
>>
>>15216466
I normally short shift out of first and stay above it because the gap is so big between gears plus I catch neutral pretty often if I use the QS in first. It's mostly crests, bumps, and suspension unloading that makes it lift.
>>
>>15216475
Well the biggest one is in 1st, it'll still pull a bit in second, and remember the Daytona is a 600 i3, liters and i4s will more because the power is less linear.
>>
>>15216475
They're talking middle displacement bikes, not litre peters with almost twice as much power and nearly the same weight.
>>
>>15216488
highest i've seen a bike output is around 14

and considering it will work with the car not running i'd rather not risk the cdi, that's just me

Mine is way lighter than the average streetbike (<370) and I often run lower sprockets depending on the track. You can't keep the front end down in first, but in any other gear it will just barely lift on flat ground even if you snap it open

I'm mid 20s and I want to ride but I'm afraid of looking like a fool in the msf course, afraid of falling and being filmed, afraid of being stupid and hurting myself etc.

I keep watching crash videos on youtube and spooking myself out of something I really want to do. I know someone else who is learning now too and he's been riding for a week but he's in the hospital already... how does /o/ get over the initial riding anxiety?

>be in your mid 20s
>still giving a fuck what people think of you if they aren't your potential gf
>letting anxiety rule his life choices

come on fucboi, man up. everything you see anyone ever doing, ever, there was a point they were doing it for the first time. new at it. maybe they sucked hard, maybe they had a natural talent for it. but you really gotta get over it and ride, once. one ride, and you'll understand the gripping addictive, freeing feeling. you'll understand its really not as hard as you made it up to be in your mind, and that a huge majority of people who get hurt riding on the streets make poor choices (going way too fast, speeding like a demon through intersections, following behind a car too fast, lane hopping without looking, not paying attention to and reading the non attentive drivers)

now go....jump on the seat and gun it. give it the beans. you'll be fucking hooked for life.

if you happen to live in phoenix, arizona, hit me up. ill be more than happy to teach you the basics, and will patiently instruct you :D we both win cuz then ill have a new riding buddy!
>tfw dont even have one homie that rides

East coast unfortunately, but thanks.

Is the msf truly basic, or should I be riding before then? If I don't have a license, how do I obtain/ride to practice for the msf course?

no prob if u ever find yourself on my side of the country hit me up famalam.

i would suggest going out and getting some basic practice before doing MSF. hell to be frank with you i went out, bought a bike on craiglist 24 miles away from my house, and without even test riding it had to ride it home the whole way back - in crowded phoenix, never having ridden a motorcycle before. its not that hard to pick up, but challenging to truly master.

go out on some side streets, practice your initial launch from first gear. practice your smooth upshifting, then start practicing downshifting to use engine toque (called engine braking) to slow down most of the way - you dont want to be only using your brake pads to stop. will overheat and wear your pads/rotors quick as fuck.

when doing tighter, slower speed turns like at an intersection, put your weight twoards the back of the bike and push down on the handle bar in the direction you wanna travel. say if you wanna go left, "push down" on your left handle bar. its called counter steering, and the only way to turn a bike correctly. youll find your mind and body do it naturally already anyhow.

then id take the MSF to learn about safety and all that jazz.

but desu i dont even have my M endorsement, kek. i hear most people dont bother getting in here in AZ so if i dont get caught doing 75 in a 40 (this is how you die, dont do this) i should be OK

Welp, italian meme is officially real.

MV is running fine, and rode to gas station without any issues aside from a non-working tachometer, speedometer (probably due to tachometer), and radiator fans.

Gonna go through all the circuits and troubleshoot it tonight. Can't wait to be fucking dead at work tomorrow.

At least one person crashes in every MSF course I've seen. It's expected, and it's fine.

Just don't be a retard and take it slow. Push yourself to get better but don't try going too far out of your boundaries or you'll just fall. Gradually work your way up to gitting gud.

Where I live there is a dirt bike track nearby but that's really for teenagers. Green lanes, my county hates them, there is 1 within 20 miles and it's only 1.5mi long.

I'm totally in the wrong part of the country for off-roading.
>>

Slightly. I still fucking love the bike and chock up my issues to crashing. I'm just pissed that FKG can throw his bike off a cliff and ride it a few thousand KMs with a tree stuck in the block and my bike shits the bed after hitting a curb and falling on its side.

Then again weird shit happens when you drop a bike. It is what it is.

There's "power wheelies" and "power wheelies" yes/no?

my SV will rip up at 6k RPM or so in 1st under power nearly to balance point actually, but it requires a quick stab of the throttle and some suspension loading.

but that's a different story to the front coming up just under a gentle throttle roll-on and pure acceleration alone which the SV doesn't really do (unless you're going over a crest, wooooo)

sup deebeetee.

my only (and glroious) means of transport is my beloved sport bike, but ive been seriously considering getting a 2smoke motorized bicycle for the lulz.
plans are to:
>get a fake license plate saying "AYYLMAO" on the back
>bore cylinder
>install stronger crankshaft
>different sprocket for higher speeds
>massive keks by trolling around on the railroad side dirt roads, canal dirt roads, and being a general memester around the town
>purely for shits and giggles.
i want a 2smoke bike i can fuck around on and not worry about beating up. ive had one before so i know the tricks like getting muffler clamps from Vatozone so the engine stays aligned and chain doesnt pop off, etc
it'll also be nice to have something i can freely fuck about on and not worry about losing my way to work/grocery
good plan? i dont wanna fork up the 2k for a half decent small dirtbike or enduro, and plus
>them tires
wear too fast for my taste.
the urge to hoon is strong again in me.
