>Lucky he had a back protector, even the shitty foam ones that come with a jacket are better than none.
Have there been any actual studies into back protector effectiveness? Regular ol' blunt force impacts to the back are about as dangerous as to the front of the ribcage, but the real scary bit is hyperflexion/hyperextension of the spine itself. Doesn't seem like anything other than a rigid strap-on back-protector would help there, but I'd be interested to see how inserts fare in practice.

How bad of an idea would it be to start on a fz6/fz8 or gsx-s750?

They seem more upright, have gimped engines, and more forgiving suspension than their full on sportbike brothers. Should be much better than starting outright on an r6/gsxr/etc if I'm not an idiot, right?

The rear window is heavily tinted, so all you get is a lack of a view rather than any glare. Same if the sun is right in front of you: the rear view is too dark to really see anything in that situation.

My biggest peeve with it is the lack of any provision for speakers. Contacted Reevu themselves, and their official advice was to compress the EPS around the ears to form a cavity for the speakers, which seems a bit janky.

Manufacturing always has been, and always will be, as shit as it is physically possible to be and still technically fulfil any minimum requirements. Old shit seems more robust, because all the old shit that was actually shit got shitcanned decades ago.

anyways I guess in tight corners yes, but that would be about it that will be fun in this car.
I think.
>>

That's not a car, that's an appliance.
>>
>>15207422
bikes will always accelerate way faster but you can almost keep up in the corners with most cars. but its much harder, especially if the car youre driving likes to oversteer
>>15207425
im 18, own an aprilia rs 125and have driven various vehicles: fiat punto evo 68 hp, fiat cinquecento, volskwagen caddy maxi life, fiat doblo', and have also driven on occasion a fiat ducato van. in italy everyone owns slow vehicles but we like to drive fast. i have tried a peugeot 206 and it was quite fun. lift off oversteers a lot
>>
>>15207431
You've only ridden a scooter, a bike is harder to control, that's why they are slower in the corner.

>in italy everyone owns slow vehicles but we like to drive fast
You mean SLOW AS FUCK
>>
>>15207431
how do you like the RS? I've been wanting to get one but I heard they're hard in corners, need to be at the right rpm or you'll hit powerband, and if you aren't ready, gonna have a bad time
>>
>>15207431
>>15207414
wtf the fuck? bikes will outdo cars in corners? Fat chance. It's pretty much an objective fact that the average sport driver will outperform the average sporty rider in any given corner. The combination of four wheels vs two and four brakes vs two is just insurmountable. I DD a 500bhp R32 whenever I don't ride and it is way easier to take up to speed and corner with confidence than it is on my bike

it's very indicative of a lack of maturity to blame your lack of skill on 'muh oversteer'

depends a lot on gearing. its useless to get it up to 200 km/h as it will take you 4 minutes and half. mine is short geared as fuck but 0-100 takes like 6.5 seconds. tops out at 150/160 if i rev it to 12.5k rpm

see if you can snag one for cheap at your local auspost auctions
otherwise it's not worth picking one up for like $2000 on gumtree

They're great bikes if you never want to go fast, on my first day as a Postie they gave me one that had been engine swapped to an unspecified size and I struggled to keep the front wheel down
>>
>>15207461
is that all supermoto is? why does everyone go on about how much work they are to maintain?
>>
>>15206614
can we have some gear talk?

i love the way the bell star looks, and specifically i like the wood grain graphic helmet that bell sold several years ago. i cant find one for sale now because i dont know the name of that particular helmet.

i also want a helmet with a drop down visor and maybe want to go with a modular...
scorpion has pic related coming out soon. that's the exo-at950. it's a modular adv helmet with a retractable visor. the color scheme also matches my duke, which i'm kind of fagging for.

can we just talk about some gear that the dbt likes? what are you looking forward to seeing, what do you like to wear, what would you like to see, are you curious to see how x fits/performs, what do you want to get?
>>
>>15207474
its awful as idling basically fouls plugs so at stop lights you will be revving to 3-4k every 10 seconds but other than that its very manoeuvrable
and brakes are very responsive i get 13 km/l with aggressive riding and add to that the cost of 2 stroke its not very cheap but hey, its fun. you can get up to 16/17 km/l riding conservatively
>>
>>15207485
Yeah I feel I would get bored pretty quickly being only a 110 and semi-auto.

You a postie?

Was it a manual after the swap?
>>
>>15207487
because they've never had to work with a 1980s 2t sport bike
>>
>>15207487
because they are usually real race engines, when we're talking about actual supermotos like the SXV 550 for example.
also it takes more to build a supermoto than just street tires, but meh

Definitely no excuses, outside of earned sick leave/days off. It does seem a little draconian at times but the amount of freedom that you get when you're out there (listen to music, skip houses if their mailboxes are shite, take videos of dogs) makes it much more bearable.
It's going to be raining all week here though so I'm really not looking forward to it

Plus all the posties I've met have been rad so I guess it must be a good job.

this shit has been bothering me since it happened yesterday around 8. i was coming home from work, almost home, and my kids are waiting on me for some dinner. the d390 is running on empty. i have an indicated 15 miles left until i'm out. i'm on a near empty stretch of highway. one lane this way, one lane that way. only one other vehicle in sight. a big dually pickup, putting along at about 55. i dropped a gear and sped around him, maybe at like 70ish and continued on to a gas station about 2 miles down the road. as i'm filling up, the dually guy starts to go past, and then i guess spots me, and slams on the brakes. dude sits there for a solid minute as i'm gassing up. i'm wondering wtf big boy's planning on doing. i passed the guy. it's not like i spit on his mom or anything. after some time, he drives off. wtf was he doing or hoping to accomplish? taking a picture? writing my plate down, so he can cry to the police? sheesh. i'm not worried about the dude. it's just a stupid little irritating thing at the back of my mind, like when you leave the house, and you wonder if you left the stove on or some shit...
