Why do RWDfags ruin everything?

Defend your favorite RWD barge, the Ford Crown Victoria, against its strongest FWD competitors, the W-body Chevrolet Impala, and the LH Chrysler 300M.

The FWD cars are:
>faster
>better handling
>get better fuel economy
>just as comfy
>and the Impala at least has aftermarket support larger than that of the Crown Vic

And before you say they didn't compete, they were considered direct rivals by the big 3.

I live in a place where it snows for 5 months of the year, I drive an hour to work one way, and I like to autocross. I live in apartments so I can only have one car.

Growing up I never thought I'd become a civic fanboy, but I've been a huge fan of my Si since I got it. 390 miles on a single tank, fast enough to compete in parking lot autocross, and good enough in the snow to keep me out of the ditch.

I have to often remind myself that all the "FWD A SHIT!" guys on this board either live in Florida and drive V6 automatic Camaros, or are carless teenagers.

Pic not my Civic, I actually don't have many of mine. I should change that this summer.

If by worse you mean statistically and scientifically faster, then you're absolutely right.

Also, FWD rally cars are more than capable of pulling slides. The difference is they're carrying their speed through the corner while doing it, using it to overcome the disadvantage of power understeer by oversteering their cars INTO the corner with trailbraking or letting off the throttle and then having a straight line out of the corner to accelerate with.

FWD is better than RWD for rally. Deal with it.

They are ugly as shit, shit fuel economy, they are a fucking neon, but dat engine and the capability of buying a piece of shit and throwing it around at tracks and shit is super appealing since other FWD and RWD are hard to find or expensive in my shithole.

If you're keeping it in boost and ragging the fuck out of it sure, that's just like any other turbo car prior to direct injection

>>
>>15201224
Also take into account that it's a 2.4 turbo as opposed to the usual 1.6-2.0 engines that are turboed currently, and the fact that the tune from the factory is probably rich so it protects the engine at higher rpms
>>
>>15201227
Well, I just saw the prices in the local listings and I guess I won't even bother desu. Overpriced as hell and that's not even counting the guys who fucked it up with shitty tunes and are selling it for 10k.
Mexico
There are GTIs (overpriced here, most with an auto), Renaults (not bad), SEATs, (desu these are nice, but I haven't spotted a clean Cupra R yet), Minis (overpriced and autos), Mazdaspeeds (haven't seen one for sale), SIs, STs and the previous RS (there's like 3 in the whole country though, haven't seen one for sale).
I forgot what else we have.
Anyway, it's not a good place for second hand sporty fwds.
I could obviously import a super fine and clean type r, since we have lax import laws, but then it loses the appeal of being a cheap grocery getter that will get tuned over time.
>>
>>15201276

Yes. there's a difference
>>
Examples:
2004, so it's a bit more desirable because of the revised engine which puts 20 extra hp. Going for what is the equivalent to 5.3k usd, sadly with shitty rice.
http://soloautos.mx/usados/auto/seat-leon-2004-rojo/772907
2003, so I'd have to check engine code to see if it's the revised or the first gen engine, no rice which is nice, 5.2k usd.
http://soloautos.mx/usados/auto/seat-leon-2003-rojo/946726
Then a second gen (Golf MkV base) special edition:
http://soloautos.mx/usados/auto/seat-leon-2009-naranja/980520
That's basically 13k.

>>15201285
Ah, we got a ton of those, I'm not very fond of them though (long wheelbase, heavy, sluggish), and most are banged to hell.

>>15201297
It's not that hard, but the effort is not worth it unless you live near the border or it's a car you absolutely adore.
>>
>>15201335
But I bet you could get them on the cheap, and I know Mexico's city roads are similar to ours and your highways are long stretches like ours so a long wheelbase is a good thing, I bet you could find one that isn't ragged to shit for cheap and make a project out of it, unless you're looking for a daily
>>
>>15201354
The idea is to have it be a daily, which I guess means nothing as long as the car is nice, I'd prefer a hatch though.
Also, although our highways are also long (but not as wide or nice), most of our driving is done inside the city. Even "suburbs" are barely out of the city outer ring. Inner city max speed is usually 35 mph and at the higher speed streets it's 50, while highway is 70-80.
My daily cruise is something like 15 min at 50, and 15 at 35. I take the highway about once or twice a month at most to give you an example.

Came across another option which is popular here, dunno if you guys got these over there, the Renaults Renault Sport (RS) versions:
Megane (222hp or so):
http://soloautos.mx/usados/auto/renault-mgane-2005-plata/1053645
Clio, although it's not the cool "II" one, this one has 160ish instead of 180 that it latter got:

There are more Focus STs, counting the previous gen.

Are Chrysler/Dodge fwd tarbo models actually desirable?
I mean, we do have Spirit, Shadow, Stratus, Avenger, Neon, Caliber, R/Ts.
But what's the appeal? I've never seen a well done R/T based project, so my imagination is limited in that area.

Also I guess our scene is growing after all, we recently got new race series, Super V8s and V6s. But back in the day we only had stock cars (basically jettas, mondeos, shadows), and a copy of NASCAR.

>Front or Rear Wheel Drive.[6] Originally TOCA announced that only front wheel drive cars would be eligible to take part. However, after high interest from teams running rear wheel drive cars, TOCA amended the spec to include both front and rear wheel drive cars.
And as expected:
>The target price for a complete car, less engine is around £100,000 depending on final components used by each team and the running cost. The cost for a TOCA-BTCC Engine will be £25,000 with the option to be leased. However the target price is a lot higher than expected - it was reported that the car, less engine is around £200,000.
Why is it happening with every series?
They all promote new rules and regulations to "ensure" performance to be close, and keep costs low, from Rally to Touring Cars, to F1.
And every single one went over planned budget and is not really delivering (besides WRC I guess which is faster).

NGTCs are completely different and is really only used in the BTCC. They are almost silhouette cars, with the front and rear ends being replaced with a spec subframe, this is how they ended up with RWD Audi A4s.

S2000 cars continued on in WTCC but I think they've been replaced by something else now, nobody gives a shit about WTCC anyway.

I would be wary of automatic Stratus RT's. FWD automatics in high performance cars don't have the best reputation. If the Stratus RT is one of the American market RT V6 coupes, avoid. It's just a Mitsubishi Eclipse V6 with different styling.

The Caliber is a great car with shit build quality. They're great lookers though. If you can find a wrecked Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, you can convert the Caliber to AWD. Everything from the Evo just bolts right on. They share the same platform and wheelbase so everything lines up.
Also, I loved the Caliber's advertising campaign. pic related made me laugh.

How many times does it have to be said that LSD does NOT improve torque steer? It actually makes it worse.
Torque steer mainly depends on steering geometry, what LSD does is give you more traction under acceleration, so you could actually give an FWD car power oversteer if you tune it like so.
