Bike school ride 8/8. Best ride. One of the earlier instructors rode with me, man was larger and deserves a commendation for being chill beyond measure. Got to choose; cone course or street. Street is more my weak spot, chose that, rest was amazing. I actually finally learned the clutch magic. Stalled twice but immediately recovered, went normal speeds, no fuckups.
Kid in a car waved to me. I almost cried of joy, but only raised left hand fingers because fear of fucking up. Instructor gave big wave in my place. Life was good today.
One polish tourist bus fucked up something in front of us and I didn't know how to act but simple, calm instructions were given, followed, and I finished the ride confident, calm and happy.
Exam on Monday. I needed this, I think I'll pull it off. Bike purchase soon, SEM soon.

Some people buy bikes just to look at, they maintain them, and older bikes are fine.
A lot of people on /dbt/ are shit noob riders so go with whatever looks good to you, and if you feel you can trust the previous owner, and you can trust your own judgement, buy what you want.
Also, to be sure of the bike, check its oil, sit on it, test brakes, test drive if you can. Hear it run, check if any smoke comes from exhaust, so on, check sprockets, all external parts you can easily see.
If you buy it, change oil and filter to be safe if you want, chain and sprockets too if you are paranoid, give it a good runnin' and give it your tender loving care.
Also, don't listen to the people who are all about 'dat chicken strip' learn your limits, learn your bike, slowly, only slowly push your bike to it's limits, and you to your limits, this will keep the skid demon at bay.

You also need to factor in how long you're planning on keeping the bike, whether it would be better to buy a bike with lower kays to preserve some of the resale value or buy one with more keys that's been maintained well to keep fit a long time.
You can't possibly draw conclusions on how the bike's been treated without actually looking at it and talking to the owner anyway.

I cleaned my carbs and want to put them back in tomorrow. My service manual says the ignition timing should be looked after before I synchronize my carbs again
I'll probably just put the carbs back on and synchronize them, then I'll see if it runs well or not

Leave the radiator cap off. Top it off and turn on the bike. Let it warm upto be about 150 and keep topping off. Done.

But basically there are marks on the back of the crank case that needs to be aligned, that's as all I know on the subject at the moment.

Btw unless you took the carbs completely apart you don't need to sync them, but if you need to and the timing is off you're gonna have a bad time.

I thought you had to take a stroboscope, attach it to the spark wires and then light the control opening and try to adjust the timing until you see the ignition marks in the opening

I took them completely apart and cleaned them. The diaphragm was torn and I replaced all gasket rings

I bought this a while back for decoration.
It fully runs but you can't really ride it unless you're a kid or weigh only 45kg.
Problem is,the 2smoke fuel/oil mix smell is nice for the first day but then everything stinks like it and you get dizzy smelling that hsit 24/7. So I put in in my garage and now it just sits there.
