Remember all the Alfa Giulia shill threads? /o/-tards telling everyone that this car would "kill BMW" (again)?

>One Giulia was wheeled off like an A&E casualty after the infotainment system failed. Another I drove had an engine warning light screaming for attention from the instrument binnacle, and the cruise control refused to switch on. A third car tested suffered a frozen infotainment system, which could only be brought back to life by stopping the car and switching the ignition off and back on, and at times some air vents stopped blowing air whilst others continued.

>One colleague suffered jammed parking sensors, so they drove around with the car going “beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep”.

>Alfa doesn’t believe drivers should have touchscreen displays — concentrate on driving, it says — yet the scrolling “mouse” wheel is cumbersome and possibly more distracting than a touchscreen. The seatbelts aren’t height-adjustable and the indicator can’t be cancelled by nudging it in the same direction a second time — only by nudging it in the opposing direction.

http://www.driving.co.uk/car-reviews/first-drive-review-2016-alfa-romeo-giulia-2/

As a german I find it hilarious that anyone would trust the italians anymore.
>>
As a German citizen living in Canada in surprised anyone drives a BMW past e46

That's irrelevant to the thread really. I'm not a BMW fan at all but betting on the italians (out of butthurt because the americans themselves fail again and again and again etc.) is just idiotic.

If you're absolutely hell bent on buying a newer car BMW's are still top tier.

That being said, cars past ~2005 are kind of shit. BMW and Mercedes is pandering to the normies by cramming their cars full of shit that'll cost a ton to fix. They're great rides, they just lose a lot of value in my eyes because they're too heavy and too expensive to work on.

I guess most wealthy normies don't care though
>>

Are you this butt clenched mad op?

Those were pre-series cars, the very same you could have seen at motorshows around the world 2 months ago.

Also you have found the only review talking shit about the car, I repeat THE ONLY ONE.

Plus, the Infotainment Giulia uses is made by Magneti Marelli and is the same as the Bmw, including the rotary dial.

Don't be so mad that Alfa Romeo is going to retake the first place on the automotive scene, the only place suitable for such a legendary brand.

Sure thing anon, that's why german cars are such reliable and have low maintenance costs.

N47 rubbish engine, 70€ per hour of labor plus thousand of coins for replacing turbos and rebuild the distribution.

Faulty DSG dct sold for years while they knew it was faulty since the beginning, spilling thousand of coins (even up to 5-6000€) for replacing the unit of out the manufacturer warranty (obviously we're talking about vag group) who doesn't give a fuck for european customers.

You get the dieselgate, wow, the biggest criminal scam ever in the automotive scene because they're not able to be "durch Technik" among other competitors so they have to cheat and once they've been caught they blame every manufacturer because EVERYBODY CHEATS when nobody but vag has used a default device to cheat on emissions while robbing several countries of money incentives for "muh ecological engines".

Do you want to talk about Mercedes?

Well, they purchase engines from Renault, which build their diesel engines in Spain, and they put these little shit eco diesels in cars with a price starting from roughly 30.000€.

It's just a shame the Alfas that absolutely destroyed the M3/M4 in the Nurburgring didn't suffer from those minor electronic glitches, isn't it?
>>
>>15147023
Reminder that the Giulia set a new record with the manual version 7:36 but they won't officialize the time...in the meantime the Quadrifoglio with the ZF8 is running on the nurburgring and they say the time (that will be officialized and filmed) is around 7:26/28.
>>
>>15147023
This is why people buy Alfas. Not for normie shit like infotainment.
The 4C could be the perfect car if they made a manual. T_T

>>
>>15147054
The 3 Series won't be FWD and so won't the "Classic" Bmw, they have to do this kind of shit because of high developing expenses for new models and chassis and that's why they're sharing platforms and engines with mini.

Alfa Romeo as part of FCA can easily share parts, engines and chassis with Maserati while Fiat can share with jeep, Chrysler, etc..totally inside their Group.

I don't doubt it is true. I just doubt it will last very long seeing how Alfa has rushed the development of this car and their quality control history.

Also please note that I am not hating on the Alfa itself as much as on the retard shills on /o/.

My father and grandfather have driven several Alfas and loved them (my grandpa had a GTV6 for example) and Alfa returning to RWD cars with a bit of italian "charme" (and soul and passion yeahyeah) is really nice.

That makes it even worse to be honest. People on more of a budget are going to think very hard about favouring an Alfa over a BMW if they have a "limited" budget like that.

People with M3 money also have enough to give the Alfa a shot without having to worry too much about possible repair costs. Meanwhile the market for "enthusiasts" in the lower price regions is very small. Most buyers in that range will make their decision more carefully and Alfas very dodgy history is not gonna help.

>and the indicator can’t be cancelled by nudging it in the same direction a second time — only by nudging it in the opposing direction

okay serious question: what the hell is going on with turn signals levers? i started driving in the mid 2000s and i've driven various japanese cars from the late 90s and early 2000s and the way all of them worked was you set your turn signal by flipping the lever up or down, it locks there, then to cancel the turn signal you move the lever back to the center position and the turn signal cuts off. i drove a few new hondas and mazdas (went with a mazda 3) and none of them do that anymore?? like, i'll move the lever back to the center position and the turn signal won't cut off. the only way i could get the turn signal to cut off has been to very slightly set the lever in the opposite position (as in moving it toward center then past). i don't understand why those cars i've driven behave that way and it annoys the hell out of me. is it a new thing? have some cars always been like that? what the hell is going on

>>
>>15147261

Another fucking stupid cunt.

Most cars have the ability to blink several times with a simple nudge. 3/5/or more times. So if it hasn't done those nudge induced blinks, when you cut the blinker back it will still keep doing it till it finishes the routine.

Easiest thing would be to compare the cars with over 200k km, on mobile.de
To see if there are any differences in terms of avaivability. If there'd be 200 BMWs and only 2 Fiats one could see a connection there. If there'd be 200 BMWs and 201 Fiats I would say there are no differences. Just look instead of keep throwing shit at eachother.

Oh man I love the bullshit on these pic.

The Murcielago time is 9 years old, you know, back when car companies didn't jump into the dick measuring time attacks
The SLR time is 12 fucking years old, and they probably didn't care that much to begin with.
The 911 time is from the previous generation, but they dont tell you that cause it seems more impressive that way
the panamera time is 5 years old.
The M4 is the most recent one, and quite a respectable time, for having 50+ less horsepower and 250 more kg.
And then we go up to two digits again with 12 years in the RS4, which was again back in the day manufacturers weren't so hard in the lap time dickwaving.
The RS4, the cadillac and the merc are only there because they are also sedans and they want you to see how fast the alfa is compared to them, so they just used the slowest times.

That said, the time was set in a pre production model and there a lot have been said about the time was said, like how its lighter and set up specifically for attacking the nords, and using tires that are not meant to be used in the final version. Also except for the cadillac time, all the other times are set from car magazines, that do not push the cars to the extreme limit, unlike the alfa that was from the factory drivers.

I would hold my horses until a proper production review after the cars comes out in the market.

It's annoying how every article that says something bad about the alfa romeo giulia gets bombarded by alfisti blaming the writer for having "personal vendetta against alfa romeo", or "jumping on the bandwagon", or just being an "alfa hater".

>Article reporting something negative about bmw, audi, VW or mercedes benz

>"You're just a hater"

I was not aware there were so many cucks in the automotive fanbase. Alfa Romeo is turning out to be the fedora of the automotive industry. Their fans always parroting about soul and passion, when their cars are the same hunk of steel like all the other cars. And if alfa romeo have a "soul", then there are a metric fuckton other cars that deserve a sou too. I like some the old alfa romeos, but godamn, the majority of the fanbase is pants on head retarded.

in a typical car review, you have to describe the car, performance specs, show the how pratical the car is, how performs on a road, on a track and describe how the car feels through corners and stuff like that.
If you have a track you also gonna do a lap time, but if you this all together you are heading for 15,20 mins long video, so they use that tactic to short the videos to 5,10 min

For example in Italy if you won't accept the recall and the remap you will have an illegal vehicle and therefore if you're caught on the public road the police will confiscate your and you'll get a fine.

In Europe you can't register a vehicle that doesn't respect the Euro X pollution rules, so...it's remap or cock in the ass.

>>VAG stole muh and your taxes as incentives for fake eco green shit engines and I don't like being robbed

VAG stole nothing. VAG took the money and built cars. Cars you bought. If they polluted more, that has nothing to do with "stealing".

>>The engine is not more powerful and as usual is worse than competitors

The non corrected engines have a very marginal higher HP output.

>>Resell value of the vehicle is badly affected (here the stealers either won't take the car or will give you a laughable amount of money for a passat 2.0 tdi)

Only idiots care about that. 99% of people continued to do their life as it was, only the gullible idiots went in for software updates and/or tried to renegotiate.

>>As the engine pollutes 100x times more than what the manufacturer declares the customer should pay taxes based on emission (read next point)

They don't pollute anywhere near 100x more. Laws unless for the better, aren't retroactive. So, too bad your car pollutes more. Not your problem. VW is the one to take the blame.

>>The remap is mandatory because if you don't do it you will have a car with different figures than declared and different from your car's registration

Remap is not mandatory. Recalls have been issued and has any recall you go there if you want to.

VAG is the one which uses default devices to specifically cheat on emission tests. They admitted themselves.

The other manufacturers followed the EU directives on emission for omologation process and if the real on the road emissions are higher than what achieved on the EU specified lab tests it's not their problem because they've not cheated. The procedure are garbage and should be remade.

>"We did find a surprising number of electrical idiosyncrasies in the cars we drove in Italy, from freezing display screens to a check-engine light. We also found the interior trim did little to dismiss stereotypes about Italian build quality, with some cheap-feeling switchgear and a center console that deflected under gentle pressure."

>we’ve just driven several Giulias at a launch event held both on and near FCA’s vast test track at Balocco in Italy
>Balocco

Again, they're pre-series and they're not the same cars that will be sent to magazines for definitive reviews. It was a preview for journalists the one at balocco.

>Interior build quality is better on the Audi A4 which also is the segment benchmark

Nothing new but therefore this is true:

>das Qualitätsniveau liegt etwa zwischen 3er BMW und Audi A4.

>0-100 kph in 7.1 seconds
huh so the base model alfa is just as quck as my 17 year old base model BMW 3 series
>>
>>15151675
what engine is your 3 series??
>>
>>15151675
Daily reminder that 7,1 seconds is the best 0-100 time in the Class For 170-190 hp diesel engines.

Better than 320d, A4 2.0 tdi, C 220d and XE 2.0d.

You're the Third world tier troll anon, that's not good...
