So i have to commute on my bike tomorrow because i seem to have spent all my diesel money on bike parts...

Have to start getting ready to leave half a fucking hour early....
kangaroos will be everywhere because 6am...
will be fucking cold and it is going to be raining so i will get to work soaking wet and cold then have to stay that way the rest of the day...
then no radio/warm comfy place to sit and relax at lunch time..

How do you fags manage to ride your bikes to work without cracking the shits?

I fucking hate the idea...

1. motorcycle is my morning coffee, since getting 7 hours of sleep a night and commuting via motorcycle I've never gotten a morning coffee ever again.

2. nowhere to park cars in the city, some carparks are 60 bucks a day, can just go around the barrier on multistories with the bike.

3. would take literally 3x as long on public transport and my legs don't fit into bus seats.

I did my CBT with no bike or car experience

I couldn't even set off on the 125cc because I didn't understand that when only using a little bit of throttle it takes a split second for the wheels to overcome friction and for the bike to start moving

>slip clutch slowly
>apply tiny amount of throttle
>revs but no movement
>fear i'm damaging the bike
>either apply more throttle or subconsciously
dump the clutch
>this makes me start off way too aggressively and nearly lose control

the instructor gave me about 10 attempts before he forced my to use a moped and even then wasn't ready to go on the road and had to come back for a second day. not to mention I'm going to need more lessons to master the clutch before I can ride my YBR

just kill me lads

Grip the tank with your legs, the upper parts of your rearsets with your ankles and keep your grip on the bars loose.

If the bars start to twitch or shake keep your grip loose. Tightening it will only make it worse and if it gets worse it will end badly sooner rather than later.

dude just go practice in the grass somewhere or something.

you dont even need to apply throttle. just slip the clutch till you feel and hear it grabbing then give some gas, you can basically dump the clutch right away once youre moving without even adjusting throttle.

should not take you more than an hour of solid trying to get it down.

i've been riding street bikes and dirtbikes for 10 years now.

All of my street bikes have been shit bikes until now. Now I own a 1300 cc sport bike.
I've been riding through canyons and put about 700 miles on it so far. But i have never had any proper instruction on how to lean, i have just been trying to figure it out myself.

My question is; how do i know when I'm at max angle before the thing skids out?

My technique has been to grip the tank with my legs, stick my knee out in the direction of the turn, begin to lean the bike, if I need more lean, I shift my upper body into the lean, and kind of hang slightly off to the side in the direction of the lean, so my ass is about halfway off the seat.

Like tires, all fluids replcaed, carbs cleaned, spark plugs redone, brake fluid changed and (if bad enough) lines replaced. Not to mention sycning those carbs and all that jazz.

Seriously, what the fuck. I wouldn't have been surprised if some fucktard had tried to stick a claim on me for slightly touching their mirror while filtering (no damage on mine or theirs but who knows), but that was certainly not on a Sunday. Not having any info as to rough location etc to go on doesn't help, and neither does the fact that the supposed accident happened like 3 weeks ago.

Fucking hell, I can't afford to pay 170 € for the accident last year and whatever else they might want now if I want to go to SEM.

Because I want him to realize that his shitbike that he spent way too much money on isn't worth fixing up since he never rides it. He isn't mechanically inclined and is afraid of riding the bike

Anon, he rode this Ninja twice. He left all his gear at my place and the bike and never came back for it. Stopped talking to me and everything. I just got in contact with him again, so I'm going to make him an offer on his non-running bike that needs it's valves adjusted and carbs cleaned and all that jazz. I want the title so I can legally go about getting rid of it. Some dude wants to trade me for it too, I'm always getting offers on a bike I can't even get rid of legally. Shit sucks, mate.

You'll start slipping once you approach your traction limit.
But you can likely lean a lot more than you think.

during the daytime the light probably won't blind people. I always run my high beam during daylight for a little extra visibility.

Basically you practice and slowly get better and lean lower. Eventually you should be able to feel your tires skipping under you and that's when you're at the limit.

someone explain this to me.

I have one of these bikes.
Now, if i gas it in first or second gear, the wheel will come up. This guy here, is popping wheelies at 140 kilometers, or about 86 mph.

If im cruising at 60 mph, I can open the throttle all i want, the wheel doesn't come up.

What am I missing?

he is bouncing it off the front suspension on the gear changes, this is important

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF1t4vnMT1U

wheelies are 1/2 in the power and 1/2 in the way you shift the weight of the bike about, preloading the suspension, moving your weight etc. The better people are at wheelies, the less power, revs etc. they need to pop it.

the way you flick the throttle (ze trick) is also quite important, you probably aren't as violent as you should be in order to do a power wheelie.

I started off with power wheelies doing this suspension bouncing and what not then moved to clutch ups, if you want to do wheelies at higher speeds, clutching up is the way. On my bike, power wheelies are only possible in 1st, clutch ups (standing up) are possible in 2nd. Though, I actually think I could pop stand ups in 3rd from a standing position but I haven't tried.

I'm by no means an expert, please ask KLX400 guy next time you see him instead but it might give you an idea.

It could just be because my bad tune but I always have better luck with wheelies when I roll the the throttle on quickly than when I whack it open in an instant.

Anyway I really only know what I'm doing with underpowered singles at relatively low speed, but I outlined what I do here >>15076629

most people just aren't aware of how lackadaisically they're hitting the throttle, I'm not suggesting he break his wrist or whatever but I got a surprise when I had a look down and saw my "totally pinning it" wasn't really that snappy at all.

But yeah I think the main thing for this guy will be the preloading the front suspension, really makes a difference on our pigfat street machines.

>My question is; how do i know when I'm at max angle before the thing skids out?

Dunno, I've never skidded out. "Feel" it I guess, truth is modern tyres are incredible, I ride sport touring tyres to the edge, I've never had scary traction loss, lowside etc. (my bike isn't really in danger for highsides) at speed, I have at low speed conefagging though.

In terms of body position, practice it going slow on the twisties, slow enough to not need front brake, focus on lines and body position, then you can add speed later and not be tied up.

Get someone to take photos of you because you will notice stuff you just can't on the bike, I'm usually too high and upright in my upper body for example, I never would have thought that when on the bike.

Anyway, big 180+ tyres kind of fold when they get to the edge so wearing out your strips doesn't even mean max lean on them.

Yes I'm in a longposting mood tonight fuck y'all.

>>15075374
waterproof jacket and overpants
can go same speed on bike as car, so where does the extra 30 minutes come from? It takes like 5 minutes to put on gear at the absolute longest unless it's cold enough for thermals, and that's maybe an extra 5.
Commuting in the cold and rain while wearing warm waterproof gear is comfy as fuck. Only annoying part is taking off the gear at your destination.

eh, I've seen it. I have no idea if it's good or not, hurr durr it's a dirtbike ride it like a dirtbike, nah it's on tarmac, kneedown style is fine too. etc.

Even just nakedbikes in general I don't really fuck with them because i'm just not used to the bar placement, I like clip ons, I'm used to clip ons I guess, but it always seems like on the nakeds you have a way harder time actually leaning off properly, I've never seen anyone corner on them not looking crossed up because you'd need spaghetti arms to get that low with big tall wide bars.

Is very great, however I work at a small shop with 7 machines and 9 dudes so we're all pretty chummy. The work is boring if we're doing large production runs but usually when we're doing small quantity science prototype shit it's good. Requires attention to detail but if you do software I imagine that's not hard. If you have money or pirates, get some CAD software and learn how to use it real good. That will get you hired quick if you want job. Overall 10/10 would cut metal again. Bonus is if you have a cool shop you can use the machine to make your own shit on off days. I've made swords, jewellery, decor. Anything is possible

ninja 250s are supposed to be easy beginner bikes right? Well I bought one from a guy really cheap, suspiciously so, and it turns out he was trying to turn it into a track bike. It's an older carbureted model with an aftermarket exhaust, improperly jetted carbs, and an airbox with holes drilled into it. It's become a touchy, cold blooded motherfuck. The plugs in there are even 9s instead of 8s.

Before a ride I have to sun the damn thing before the starter motor even gets a chance to catch and it seems like all the low end power evaporated. The amount of gas I have to give it crawling out of stop to avoid a stall does not seem appropriate.

On the other hand, it's fun as fuck at higher revs.

Good luck finding a place where the cops won't be called on you. Your best bet is probably rural roads. Keep moving in one direction instead of going back and forth so you don't repeatedly bother the same people enough for them to try to fuck you over.
