I think you should go to your local motorcycle shop and try all the helmets you can find on.
Good fit is paramount. A little tight is ok because the foam will break in but a lot will create pressure points and become annoying as hell.

if you revved it too hard and fast with the clutch in just idling it would die.
however if you were in gear and punched the throttle it was just a ferocious snap off the bottom end when it dug.
Doing u-turns involved smashing the rear brake when you cracked the throttle to soften out the stab otherwise you could lift the front wheel.

I tightened up my rear shocks two turns, just to see. I never had any bottoming out issues or anything, but I wanted to see how it affected the ride.
Later I went out for a ride, but I forgot about the whole shock thing. Still, all of the sudden I felt like I was riding better in the twisties all day, plus I was playing around with low speed turns and it felt great. I assumed at the time I was just hungry to ride, not having been on the bike for a month, but later I remembered I adjusted the shocks.
So is it just coincidence, or did turning up the shocks help my cornering, lean, and slow maneuvers?

I had my rear shock set up stupidly low on the back for some reason (I always thought it was setup right in the middle...it wasn't) and it never really slowed me down. (look at the rear squat in this pic)
when I put it up I was initially rather unsettled because it seemed to skip a bit more and was a bit harsher (angel GT's probably an equal culprit here, I never though they were as good as the S20 evos I had before at absorbing bumps), eventually I got used to it and it's much better over faster bumpy terrain now, more "composed" at high speed if you will.

Do you not have an owners manual? You need to set up your bike for preload/rebound/dampening for your weight then adjust for desired turn in.
From my owners manual, to increase turn in:

>reduce front preload +1
>increase rear compression damping .25-.5 turn
>increase front rebound damping .25 turn
This makes your bike turn in amazing but it also makes it pretty sketchy for the street. I like it, but hitting bumps mid corner is wicked.

Personally, I like the XB12 with the air cooled 1203cc Thunderstorm. This is a mans bike. It shakes like crazy, its loud, its hot, it has no slipper clutch. This bike doesn't let you forget that you are on a bike at any point in time. Far more manly than any other bike I've ridden, supersports included.

Easy as fuck if you are american. All parts are availible from Harley, and any hole in the wall V-twin shop can work on it. I have a guy down the street who does my work for cheap as shit. If you get an 1125R you may have to shop around for a mechanic but if you get the regular bikes with the harley engine anyone can service them. There is no easier sport bike to service than a buell in the USA.

To add to reliability:
The 1125R with the rotax idk it takes valves adjustments and such so you'll have to look it up.
The sportster engine based buells use hydraulic lifters (no adjustment ever) and use a belt drive instead of a chain. They are the lowest maintenance bikes imaginable. In 14k miles the only corrective maintenance I've done is replace a snapped clutch cable. All other parts have been wear items.
