Why are SV650s such meme machines? Everywhere I look people are singing the praises of these things like they're some kind of miracle bike but they don't look much different from other 600s. They just look like generic sportbikes and their specs aren't the greatest.

I'm inclined to say the 690SMC looks like the best all around bike for hooning and daily riding. It looks like a good middle ground.
I currently own a DRZ400 and a 450EXC. The 450 is a lot of fun but you might be turned off by the maintenance schedule associated with race-bred machines. The DRZ400 probably won't excite you too much coming from a much more powerful bike.

It's pretty maneuverable, to it's credit.
It's easily affordable, like most Suzakis.
It's got an iconic "snake" look that no other bike has. It looks really long and narrow, and it's pretty sleek.

Is it easy/possible to ride 2-up on most dual sports? I'm not talking like the BMW dual sports with two seats, I mean like DRZs or KLXs with the bench-style cradle seat. I really want a dual sport to hoon on (<$3000 so the fancy BMWs are out of the question) but I need to occasionally ride with a pillion, maybe even on the highway (60 mph). Is this possible on a cheap dual sport or should I just suck it up and buy a 300/400 sportbike?

How did you like the Street Triple? Considering one as a first big bike upgrade after my little shit bike.
As a side point, why did Triumph make their bikes uglier? Both the new Striple and Daytona got worse. Striple for it's bug eyes and side exhaust and the Daytona for it's "spiky" fairing (looks weird to me), it's rounder front end and again, it's side exhaust instead of underseat.
Actually, while I'm at it, why the fuck have underseat exhausts seemed to have gone out of fashion on new bikes? They look so so much nicer. Is it down to geometry or just a trend?

I'm looking for a 2011 Speed Triple. Everyone owner thinks:
-mods add to the market value of their bike.
-Their bike is only immaculate bike with 2500miles all the others that did the same mileage are beat

One guy priced his for $9000 grand which is what 2013's are going for, and said he will take off the LED turn signals, exhaust, and other bull shit and lower price $1000.
Other douchebag told me he can't sell lower than 8k because PO put alot of mods on. And he has none of the stock parts.
however if you want Puke Green, period red, or a mix of blue and grey, or white with a mix of bullshit you are in luck because they are priced 6500-7500.

I've been slowly accumulating motorbike stuff over the last year or so. I'm in the UK so I can't just jump on a bike and go on my car license. I've got a shitty hoodie with kevlar inserts and a decent helmet my dad picked out with me (he's been riding since the 60s)
What do I still need? Boots for sure, and probably gloves. I'm going to book my CBT (basic bike test, lets you have a 125cc) in a couple weeks, after I've got everything I need. My dad says I can borrow his Lexmoto commuter whenever I want so I've got a first bike lined up as well.

Gloves are the most important thing since you've already got a helmet. You can't do much without your hands, m8.
You would be alright with those two as the bare minimum. Boots with ankle protection is probably the next step after that. Then jacket and trousers of whatever type you fancy.

£35 is already pretty cheap. Have a look at the budget but still decent quality brands like RST and Hein Gericke. I wouldn't go near any of the cheap Amazon/Chinese stuff. You'll see gloves for like £5 and the back of the glove will be covered with all the cool rubber knuckle guards but the actual glove itself is made of thin shit leather, if it even is leather. There wont be any good reinforcement on the palm, little finger etc. You might as well get a pair of gardening gloves.
Spend a little more and get something half decent that you can keep in the long term.

Taking my MSF course next month. What did you guys wear? Did you deck yourself out with full riding gear before hand or go bare minimum? My local course won't be touching the streets whatsoever, and they only require a long sleeve shirt/jeans/over the ankle 'boots.'.

I get that you're likely underage and don't have a lot of money but cheaping out on gear basically never pays off in the long term, the gear falls apart or is shit, and you end out buying the proper stuff eventually anyway, Rjays gloves, cheap AGV helmet (don't buy cheap agv), aldi jacket. I've made terrible gear choices in the past.
