In fact for some period of time American cars existed in their own bubble seperated from the rest of the world, where landau roofs, sealed beams and railroad sleeper bumpers remained "in". Meanwhile this was released in 1967, two years -before- the first moon landing.

I will admit, the car you posted looks incredibly ahead of it's time. But you are wrong in the sense that there has never been an american car that hasn't looked ahead of it's time.
One example that comes to my mind is the Pontiac Aztec, it may not be a classic but it is the first thing I can think of when it comes to looking ahead of it's time. It's essentially a modern crossover of today.
Another example is the AMC Eagle, which was the precursor to the SUV/crossover

I went to go check out another 450SE that turned out top be crap and spotted mine at a dealer on the way back.
Only real plans are to deal with the leaks/windows, lower it about an inch, stick 16s on it, swap the bumpers for '73 US or Euro bumpers, and get rid of the god-awful wheel arch trim.

It's about as fast as 300 Turbo Diesel (83 models have newer M102 engine with 109 horsepower) so it's not that bad.
Even 200 diesel with auto box is drivable desu, maybe not in a motorway but on older highways with lower limits.

Thats even too stout. 670cfm or under for a mild to medium street machine is sufficient. A 750 in my experience is good for 500+ cubes or 426+ with a really hot cam or high compression. It would run fine with a 750 on it, albeit rich but its safe. Heck, 440 commando 4bbls used a 600cfm AVS carb and some trucks even got a 2bbl in the 450 CFM range. When in doubt, go a size up from stock (so for a Tquad that's 600, go to a 650 or 670 if you have mods). Remember as well, that adding headers and a good flowing intake can actually reduce your fuel requirement across the rev range because of lower temperatures. I'm not saying undersize your carb when using longtubes or anything, just that you can lean out your adjustments a tad more with those upgrades. I've ran a 600cfm on every stock or mild BBM I've had with 0 issues. I have a 750 now, but I also have to compensate for a bottle in the mid-high rev range (4000-6500 RPM) .

Chance are a bit of sludge could have gotten into the gallery that houses the sensor. It should be at the back of the block in the dead center left up top. Simply unscrew it and check for blockages. If you want to clear it out, or have to, use an air compressor set to 90 PSI or less. This will help protect from aeration as opposed to running 160-180 PSI into it.

I want an electric choke; while I currently live in Texas, I do drive back up to Wisconsin on a regular basis.
I'm also going to continue looking for a discount dual-sidedraft air cleaner so I can upgrade to the Performer RPM intake. I'll be getting different heads as well; I suspect the reason that they ported the "peanut" heads on the car was that they were concerned about anything else mating up with the stock headers.
I like to buy my upgrades piece by piece, but I try to make sure that they'll all work together.

Of course. Have you checked CL for a used Edelbrock then buying the electric choke kit? I went that route on a Duster and got the carb for 120, 35 in rebuild parts, and 50 for the choke kit. Worked like a charm, but I don't use a choke anymore. Sure, its a bit harder in winter but it doesn't get driven much then. Midwest winters are a crap shoot. I'll keep an eye open at the swap meets for the side draft, but if you plan on keeping the Excalibur long term, id see it as an investment piece. And there's the fact you can always get most of what you spent later just looking at Ebay and such.

I was actually shopping for a saab 9000 when I found it. It is still as bought, but I am going to be redoing it to my standards. First is a proper detailing, some touch up paint, a wideband for tuning, getting a proper lockup control module for the a/t, regear, it must have 3.08 or higher rear and an open diff. Made the 450 mile journey home without a hiccup though, I am smitten.

That induction setup probably cost almost as much as my whole build. mine is just what kids today call a "missile". Built it years ago in a shed and It's still kicking. My favorite vehicle I've ever owned. Here's a pic after the most recent wreck, had an off at ~45mph and tore the rag joint in the column. bent up the fender and broke the headlight bucket+ turn signal I replaced last year too. Not saying you didn't, however more torque and horses in a full size is a good thing. I could hit 140+ with a set of 2.73s, but I like doing 1/4 mile passes so 3.55s it is.Everything being equal, the small block will be slower every time. I've built 318s and 360s and they are a good engine there's no denying it at all. But for sheer power and potential, nothing touches an RB engine from that era. Sure, my last 360 made 468/437 (single 4bbl, hyd roller, Indy heads, etc) but a bone stock pre smog 440 is destroying that torque figure and made 345ish hp stock. Simple math dictates 440 over 318/360 to me. You get a stronger transmission (727 vs 904), can hit 550 cubes stroked, and can even spin one to 7500 reliably with the right valvetrain setup. All for the same money as a 318 or 360 build while the only downside being you weigh 100-130lbs more. Fuel economy doesn't matter to me in a cruiser or muscle car, it never has. It's comparing miles per gallon to smiles per mile, and given everything else is equal, the SPM factor of a stock BBM is higher than a SBM to me.
Pic related, a 360 I'm building for my 280Z because fitting an RB is more of a bear than I want to deal with. And with this vehicle, weight is a factor.

Are you slow friend? Full size Chryslers benefit greatly from extra torque that comes from the higher displacement RB that an LA cannot provide. Again, there's nothing wrong with the 340 either, but you are also comparing the net of a 340 Six Pack to a 440 Single four with a truck cam. Try comparing it to the net of a 440 Six Pack or Dual Quad. The six pack is rated ad 390 HP gross with a net rating of around 320 conservatively.
And maybe this wasn't clear, I'm not downgrading the power or potential of the LA engine family. But dollar for dollar, you will get more power and more torque from an RB than any LA from that period. There is no question to this at all. The other factor is the car weight because he is looking at a C Body and a heavy one at that.

Auto X. SCCA Solo specifically. If I go above that power level, I move into a higher classic modified class than I want to be in (Think 450hp and only require 200lbs more weight). Trans is a short ratio T5 with an adapter. Still looking for a good IRS rear used but I'm most likely going with a Strange unit,though the R200 in it can supposedly hold it. I disagree. I paid $300.00 for the boat when I was 14 and, although the motor cost me about $1,100.00 to get running perfectly, it's been nothing but a source of joy and one of my favorite childhood memories.
My father is still storing the boat for me at his house until I get around to picking it up and taking it to wherever I move to.

Take it out and lay it in the sun on a warm day. Leave it for a few hours. Put it back in the car when It's nice and warm, that should take most of the creases out. If there are any left, use a hair dryer, or if you're daring, a heat gun. Be careful not to melt the carpet or catch it on fire though. Also, be sure to mark where your seat holes go, or anything else that has to come up through the carpet. Measure/mark twice, cut once. A mistake cutting means you either have to live with your crappy job or buy a new carpet.
