I spied with my little eye something beginning with corroded and now leaking rear brake lines.

What's the best way to go about repairing it? Just buy the pipe, the unions, a bender and flaring do-da or take it too a shop? If the former what type of pipe do you recommend?

What are some of the differences between the NA and the NB?

ok so it ls like if you turbo an OBD2 car in massachusetts, to pass inspection all you need to do is;
>wire the wastegate wide open
>replace the injectors with stock injectors,
>replace the MSPNP with the stock ecu

>put the stock MAF back on
>drive around for about a hundred miles to read all the emissions tests
that's it
with that you can turbo any year miata with a megasquirt ecu replacement

bleeding the brakes means bleeding the entire system of fluid, and thus air, go look up miata brake bleed tutorial videos

When I was bleeding the brakes, all I did was grab a 8mm wrench,a big size bottle of dot 3 brake fluid and opened the bleeder valve on the caliper and had my uncle press the brake pedal 10 times to gets the old brake fluid and air bubbles. you do this on all 4 as well anon. You're trolling, but that's a serious thing. Vaseline is petroleum based so it won't hurt the oil, but it can still draw oil through it because it's oil-soluble. I'll get a multimeter for the leads, check the plugs (prolly just get new ones anyway), smack the injectors around.
Might check the fuel filter, too. The fuel in that tank has probably never been treated so harshly since my new tyres.

Thoughts?

I wasn't the anon that asked for a 1k china turbo build, but I was curious as to how much a difference does an additional 100whp does to a miata. Personally, I've never been inside a car that has been turboed which is why I foolishly question it. I have the confidence now to start looking into a eventual project after having fixed a good amount of shit on my miata for the past year and a half.

get a brake shop to make one up for you. honestly dont fuck with your brake lines. if you dont know how to form proper flared unions you will fuck it up. you need a set of flaring dies and the tool, they need to be the correct angle for the job and they need to be double flared properly, if you fuck it up it will fail unexpectedly.

as for high pressure hydraulic joints being important, what's the worst that could happen? ask yourself if you feel confident doing your own gas fitting.

not really. idiots delete them. or people who are building true turbo systems wherein they use two sets of injectors.

the idea of removing the evap system is to remove clutter. it's possible to build a turbo engine from an n/a that will idle well with tiny injectors to manage up to 3000 revs then the second set or single extra giant injector for once boost kicks in.

the EGR is deleted because old older cars when they go, there are none left and all the spares are already fucked so there's no choice but to delete. also in many stock turbos ie 300zx the egr unit is tucked under a curve in the firewall making servicing them impossible without removing the entire engine and complicating exhaust pipe replacement and modification by necessitating extra ports and piping which is just a hassle. you can pass emissions by having a well tuned engine and no EGR but sometimes EGRs are just required to function anyway. so best left in.

the EGR does not simply feed the engines farts back into its own mouth, it actively reduces displacement by partially filling cylinders with inert gas.

>>14895487

read manual, bleed all four calipers in the correct sequence.

on the first one, I use a powerade bottle because its tall and clear, use a small piece of air tubing for fishtanks or rubber vacuum hose and push it over bleeder nipple.
>put a little brake fluid in bottle
>submerge other end of tube in bottle fluid
>loosen bleed screw
>press brake pedal or gravity bleed forever
>once fluid runs clear you have flushed the master cylinder and that line
>dont forget to open brake fluid reservoir and do not let reservoir run dry

Just got an NB. The steering is somewhat twitchy, undulations in the road seem to send it lurching left or right, and this is especially pronounced whilst accelerating or cornering hard.

>>
>>14888859
no and yes.
if it pumps oil fine then it is fine.
when installing oil pumps instructions specify to pack with vasoline to avoid the pump not pumping and just running dry.

to be on the safe side i would replace the oil and water pump right now before installing that engine. why not spend the money and time replacing those essential parts now rather than later on a used engine while its out of the car?

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on an NC as a daily driver in Wisconsin. I do a lot of driving for work so it will see a lot of miles year round. Am I crazy? I've been in the NA, NB, and NC and the NC seems like the best of the three for year round DD service.

How do these do in high mileage applications? I can take care of my own maintenance but I don't want keeping it on the road becoming a part time job.

Just stock 14's so 185/60/14 Direzza Z2's.
More than enough grip for my daily commute and occasional weekend blast through the hills. I'd have to break the speed limit to go any faster through most corners they can handle.

Been looking at bushing sets. Pretty fuckin pricey though, most seem to cost more than all 4 stickies cost me. I'll probably go rollbar, maybe look at FM then bushings. Once I have the feet looked at, I'll start thinking about the engine.
>>
Friend of mine has an NA and he just installed his rollbar. The cuts into the metal panels were not perfect, so you can still see pretty bad gaps in them into the deep dark abyss that leads to whatever. Should he cover those gaps? I swear he dropped a bolt in there because his car rattles now.
>>
>>14906886
Whenever I do sheetmetal work that will at some point have fingers near them - I cover it with edgetrim. Mostly because I bought it bulk at 100m years ago, but because it only takes one serious laceration to never want it again.

As for the rattle, no idea. I don't think you can reach those areas without removing the bar, so it's up to him.
>>
>>14906900
I think the primary concern right now is that his soft top is the original one and has a cut in it that let rain water in one day. I really hope that there's a drain hole to whereever the bar is attached to.
>>
>>14906919
The NA has drain holes to the outside of the seatbelt pillars, but other than that I don't think it has any other dedicated drain holes.

If he ever does have a look, it should be reasonably dusty in the general vicinity and will likely show where water has been running.

I haven't cut into my miata before, but maybe the large rear silver sheet panel could be removed to have a looksies.

Unfortunately the rear quarter on a miata is pretty much the worst place to have body damage. You can't just replace the panel as it extends all the way under the doors and is crimped/welded to the unibody.

I'm no body work specialist but If you want it done proper I'd guess you'd have to either knock out those dents or cut that piece of the panel and weld in a new piece. I dont know which would be cheaper/easier.
>>
>>14909542
Get it close and bondo it up, not really a big deal for a body shop, for a person with no experience, good luck.
>>
>>14909551
Those dents appear to be outward, like the guy forgot to secure his battery and it smashed the quarter from the inside. I'm not sure bondo would be the best solution, but like I said, i dont really know anything about bodywork.

You don't really, unless you get a retro front kit. Are the headlights so much of a clash? Would you say that NB should not even venture into this look at all? Yes it's not as "retro" as popups but the NB make up for it IMO. But I get it, and most would agree with you, pop-ups or nuthin. That's fine, leaves the NBs nice and cheap for the rest of us.

Those who concentrate so much on the pop-ups (which again, we all agree, are awesome) I think aren't looking at the whole picture, which can be stunning. It just sounds very meme-y to me, like those photo critiques of girls, you know

>1/10 waist too small, will snap in half
>2/10 skin to pale and smooth, won't stand up to sunlight or knife shankings

...while the rest of her is gorgeous.

So okay, maybe you're a hardass and can't get past or accept seal beam headlights. So here, retro front clips. Expensive but can look great.

Well you'll need dampers obviously, I would recommend Tokico Illuminas. Then you need bumpstops. Also if you have an NA I would recommend buying some NB upper shock mounts. They will give you more shock travel with the lowered springs.

Depending on what dampers you buy, they should come with all the necessary bushings and maybe even bumpstops.

If you want an adjustable setup you'll need some spring perch sleeves. Ground Control for example is pretty much the standard for adjustable sleeves, they are kinda pricey though.

Most importantly you shouldn't just take this at face value. Research research research! It's tempting to just cobble something together quickly so you can drive on your new setup but you will regret it in the end. Take the time to make sure you choose the right setup for what you want.

I'd recommend visiting the miata.net forum suspension section. There's tons of info on every setup you can imagine there.
