Are there any tricks to removing the top most bolts on the bellhousing?, they are jammed up there pretty good

Lots of extensions and at least one universal joint

I'm new to socket extensions and u joints and all that, any tips?

Don't forget a large helping of sacrificial knuckle-skin.

I'm guessing just a huge ass bar connected to a breaker with a swivel on the end?

Nah not really, you just have to experiment with them to get tricky angles. If it's a particularly tight space, you might need a spanner. If you can't get enough leverage on the spanner, you can use another spanner and link them together.

I went in from behind the transmission with aboutique 3 feet of extensions and my friend at the front guiding the socket onto the bolts.

This. I also dream of having 6 ft long 1 inch diameter 10 elbowed arms
3 to 4 foot extension, a minimum of 1 U joint socket/ swivel extension. remove drive shaft / trans mount if particularly difficult and drop the back of the trans down a bit so you can get clear access.

Any room to go at them from the top?

not really

how far can the trans dip before you break shit
You could drop the transmission mount and bracket but be sure to support the transmission so you don't fuck your motor mounts. Might give you more room.
