While the Germans and the Japs are slowly phasing out manual gearboxes, the Americans are putting manuals into every desirable sports car they build. Some engineer at Ford I think it was, said that even if just 1% of buyers still want a manual, they'll keep offering them, even if it ends up costing them more money than they earn to do it.
