Supposedly on real drag cars that make 2000+ hp, having upward turned exhaust actually provides a pretty large amount of down-force. I've heard 500 lbs quoted but I'd have to see the car on scales or something to prove it. I guess there is a regulation on the angle that they can be tilted backward too due to the added thrust the exhaust would provide.

Most ive seen in real life either have a small drain hole or are 2 parts. The 2 parts one are only for the crazy exhausts and usually consist of a slip on art piece that slides over and bolts onto a small upturned or regular style pipe. That way you can have crazy exhaust for shows but still drive hard and not worry about cracking exhaust piping from your 5 ft zig zag pipes swinging everywhere as you shred the curves.
