Would the oil drain mod in pic related actually work? I want to do this to all my cars so it's easier to service.
>>
>>14748364

Yes it will.

Please look for a qtddtot before posting things like this
>>
>>14748364

what in the fuck
>>
use a ball valve instead
>>
Due to weight and vibrations this will likely open on its own/break off and empty your sump. Maybe if you can support the end it could be OK. If you can also keep it straight down it could be OK.
>>
>>14748368
What does qtddtot mean anyway?

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=qtddtot

you know google exists, right?
>>

Here's your indignant reply asshat
>>
>>14748702
It takes more time to post a reply than it does to type qtddtot into a search.

Google 'fumoto valve', pic related. If you really want to make your oil changes easier (in a way that isn't retarded and won't stick out below the belly pan), that's the way to go.
>>
>>14748882
this , but keep in mind these things drain oil rather slowly, so you trade irritation for time
>>
>>14748908
...how. A ball valve is full ported. Sliding stem has a restriction usually but full ported valves would have the same flow as a straight pipe.
>>
>>14748908
Beyond that, it's not THAT annoying to have to unbolt the oil drain plug, assuming you're not driving a boxer.

Quick tip: when removing the drain plug, crack it loose, and push it in while unscrewing it. Then, just pull it away quickly once it is loosened enough to pull off. No mess, no burns, etc.

I thought about a fumoto valve, but decided against it simply because I don't really find removing the drain plug on my car very annoying.

Fumoto oil valve

Don't buy Chinese crap.
>>
>>14748364
There's a mod something like this for the Ford Ranger engines. It actually works though, and it doesn't look like a water spigot
>>
>>14748939
Wait what's different about boxers? Just drain plug position?
>>
>>14748364

>drive out in any terrain
>stuff gets caught in the valve and turns it

Not very likely ofc, I'd rather replace my current plug with a magnetic plug tho.
>>
>>14749496
There is nothing different. They have an oil pan with a bolt on the side just like everything else.

Is oil electrically resistive enough to inhibit galvanic corrosion on the threads? My only concern desu.
>>
>>14749543
I think that tard meant the oil filter is more difficult to do but his autism got in the way.
>>
>>14749633
The housing of the valve and threads should be made of brass. So yes.
>>
>>14748938
Diameter, diameter, diameter.
>>
>>14749676
I meant on the oil pan senpai
>>
>>14749756
Still yes.
>>

The latest MR2 I bought has one of these and honestly I want to put one on NY other car and my parents car. I don't have to lift my mr2 up to change the oil. I slide the oil pan under, reach and flick the notch, get NO oil on me. Go change the oil filter from the top. Flick it shut, remove pan, pour in new oil, done.
I love it
>>
>>14748938
Those valves fuckin suck they take forever to drain
>>
>>14750264
Warm the oil up, it will come out fast enough, as if 5 minutes is too long for oil to drain.

Of all the potential weaknesses, dangers, and problems installing a valve presents, the benefit is you don't have to undo a single bolt with a wrench in less than 20 seconds once every couple of months?
>>
>>14750314
>changing oil every 2 months

Wat? Are you running a street legal 787b?

>*this is a cutaway model to show how the valve works
>>
>>14750387
It's actually a "safety" lock design illustration, on top of a normal valve mechanism.
>>
>>14750277
This is with warm oil. also with these valves you can't hook your finger in the bottom of the sump after its finished draining to check for bits of bearing or cooling jets
>>
>>14748368
fuck off, don't act like a mod
