Nissan in the 90s is NOT the same company it is today. Renault has turned the company into a no sporty car bean counter hell hole. Even talk about replacing the 370z with some crossover bullshit. After 2002 all the original great Nissan cars that people love and swoon over (R34, 300zx TT, s15, etc) ended production. From then on Nissan was more like it is today, shit.
I love 90s era Nissan, but none of the cars today offer me a reasonable choice. I've owned my 93 240sx for 10 years now, and I've been looking to Nissan to make a light, rwd, economical ($) sports car. Toyota/Subaru makes the FR-S, and I was hoping that would spur Nissan on to make a new 240sx. They canceled the project because they didn't have any chassis that could handle it, they would have to make a new ground up design ($$$$$$$$$$) so they refuse.
